Guest guest
I also bet they will slice the implant open before removal?? Ask them that question as well. Donna
Guest guest
Rogene, I was wondering if Penni had saline or silicone and how long did she have implants before removal. I am going to Dr. Kolb next week for removal. Donna
Guest guest
Speaking of drains . . . Penni had to stay in Alanta an extended period (hopefully she's home now) because she had so much drainage . . . Had she not had drains, it's likely she would have experienced an awful lot of pain - and possible other complications. Some capsules become calcified . . . actually brittle with calcium deposits. It's highly unlikely yours are calcified. However, you still have capsules that should be removed. Hugs Rogene
Guest guest
I e-mailed Dr. Kolb and told her my implants are making me sick. I scheduled for surgery 3 weeks out. She does emergence cases like mine. She understand's this procedure. I am sure Dr. Feng would do the same I would die if I had to wait til December. Please look at the list of physicians for proper removal and skilled in this procedure. Donna
Guest guest
, My doctor did a complete capsulectomy - I didn't know to ask for one. To this day, he still leaves the capsules in. I'm convinced that God held his hands as he removed my implants. Even the most die-hard pro-implant plastic surgeon CAN do the job right. . . However, before going under the knife, you want to KNOW that you can trust him/her to do the job right. Anything else is too risky! Guest guest
I didn't read beyond your post to see if anyone else has responded, but if they did respond I'm sure we're saying something similar. If you are having symptoms, the capsules need to come out of the body. If your body is reactive to the implants, then the capsules must come out, calcified or not. The capsules absorb whatever chemicals and toxins the implants are putting out, and if the capsules stay in your body, you could continue to react to the toxins. Make sure the doctor does a complete capsulectomy, and uses the " en bloc " procedure. Also, tell the doctor that you want drains, even if they don't normally use them. Guest guest
Rogene... Did Penni see Dr. Kolbe (think I spelled it correctly). Maybe it is worth a trip to Atlanta after all. I live in Virginia. Yes...drains do make sense. > > Speaking of drains . . . Penni had to stay in Alanta > an extended period (hopefully she's home now) because > she had so much drainage . . . Guest guest
Sis....I will and if he won't then I'll just have to wait and go elsewhere. Already have another consult but this PS is so in demand that it is not until December. All of what you guys are saying makes a great deal of sense...especially if I am having an immune reaction...you are right, the capsules has to come out too. And I want those DRAINS. From what I read here.....it is h..l to pay without them. > > > > I talked with the surgical nurse because the PS is out of town > today. > > She was in the room during my consult and saw my breast. Guest guest
, Yes, Penni did see Dr. Kolb. She was very happy about everything - except how long it was taking for the drainage to stop! She should be posting again soon. Hugs, Rogene
Guest guest
Donna, I emailed Dr. Kolb last night, told her my story. I received an email from her this morning telling me that she thinks I have biotoxins due to mold. She wants me to call her to discuss the explantation. I tried to call, the office is closed...so will call Monday. May even email her back and give her my number. I can't remember. Have you had yours out yet? > > I e-mailed Dr. Kolb and told her my implants are making me sick. I scheduled > for surgery 3 weeks out. She does emergence cases like mine. Guest guest
Donna, I will be very interested to know about your experience with Dr. Kolb. I may be doing the same thing...traveling to Georgia. In fact, the more I have thought about this....the more I absolutely want someone that will do it right. I also like the idea that she is holistically based...and a woman...who can better understand the nuances of this toxicity. > > Rogene, > > I was wondering if Penni had saline or silicone and how long did she have > implants before removal. Guest guest
, I will be keeping this support site posted for sure on the outcome of my surgery and if it makes me any better. I am going to Dr. Kolb because I am sick of being lied to by my PS who denies any of my symptoms are due to implants. I have been sick since getting them and I am only getting worse by the day. I am tired of PS who deny the facts that we are getting sick from saline implants as well as silicone. If I had silicone they would take me more serious. However, they both have the same shell? So, I am tired and sick of going to Dr. to Dr. and getting pushed around. I would travel to Egypt if I thought I would get well, this is why the 8 hour drive to Dr. Kolb. I haven't meet her and I am only going by the referrals from this site. I do know that one women did the background search on Dr. Kolb and used her for herself for ex plant. She says, she is wonderful and saved her life. This is the stuff I need to hear and use for getting well is my goal. I have been to enough quacks the past year and 4 months I am so ready for a specialist in this area of medicine. Donna
Guest guest
I leave Monday morning for explant. I go Monday at 5:00 p.m. for my first consult with Dr. Kolb. I go Tuesday to sign papers and Wednesday 24th is ex plant day for me. I will keep you and all posted on this board. If I can't do it I have another lady that I will call to do for me. I will have a laptop and computer access at the hotel suite where I will be staying about 2 minutes from Dr. Kolb's office. I do know she takes insurance or financing and you get discount if you tell hotel its for medical reasons. I will keep you updated and good luck with your ex plant soon. Guest guest
If you leave a message for Dr. Kolb over the weekend, chances are she will call you back over the weekend and spend a great deal of time speaking with you. That's what happened with me, she called me on a Saturday. I ended up going with Dr. Feng because I decided I'd rather drive to Ohio than fly to Atlanta, but Dr. Kolb is very involved with her patients from what I see. Not to say Dr. Feng isn't, she's an excellent surgeon and is very caring, but Dr. Kolb is just very accessible compared to most doctors. Guest guest
Thank you Donna. Dr. Kolb called me tonight! Yes! I have tentatively scheduled surgery or should I say she has penciled me in for June 15th.....which means I need to go down on the 12th to be there on the 13th for a consult....testing on the 14th and surgery on the 15th. I would have gone down sooner...but my daughter is graduating from high school June 10th. I am going to see my internal medicine doctor this week...and will update her. She and Dr Kolb will talk ...such that Dr. Hudson can continue my care once I am home. In fact, I am hoping that Dr. Hudson will go ahead and put me on some antifungal medication to get me started. I am already on some of the other things....for liver cleansing....that is meantioned on the site. I just hope I can work all of this in ...between kids graduating from high school (my step son is also graduating). I have to go to college orientation with my daughter the last week of June...etc. > > , > > I will be keeping this support site posted for sure on the outcome of my > surgery and if it makes me any better. Guest guest
Rogene and all who responded, Thanks so much for the support, I will be letting you all know how my surgery goes with Dr. Kolb. I hope this works for me to get these toxic bags removed. I have a very good feeling it will. There is no other explanation as to why I am sick and tired. I have had every test and all come back to be normal. I know I am not normal and I also know I am not crazy. I have 33 symptoms and hope all will vanish in time after implants are removed. Thanks for the support and knowledge you all have with implants. I will be letting you all know how it goes. Donna

Guest guest
Thanks Rogene...I will certainly try. By the way....can anyone describe the " en bloc " procedure for me. I am assuming this means something other than going in thru the areola. Having a hard time getting a visual of what this means. Thanks.... > > , > > Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful . . . > > It looks like you're going to have a very busy June! . > . . Guest guest
, The body grows a capsule around any implant placed in the body to wall off self from non-self. With the en bloc procedure, the doctor cuts around this capsule (the implant is still inside) and removes the capsule and implant as one piece. The reason this is important is that there can be a wide array of contaminents between the capsule and the implant - you don't want anything spilled into your chest cavity on explant - or left behind to mimic a tumor or release toxins. Surgeons would prefer to make an incision through the capsule wall, pop the implant out, and sew you up . . .. Quick, quick, quick $$$$$$$$$$$$ It takes considerably longer to do the job right! As well as more skill on the part of the surgeon! What we've observed over the years is that, when a woman gets worse, rather than better, after explant that either she had an extracapsular rupture, there was a spill during explant, or the capsule was left behind. It's simply not worth the risk! Hope this helps. Hugs and prayers, Rogene
