Guest guest
Hi , WOW I had no idea that a cat bite could result in all of this. My goodness. That is just so strange. Man o man, some of the things we come up with. lol Amazing. You sure have been through the ringer, I hope they can find the ultimate treatment for you so you can at least be comfortable. Hugs, I'm so sorry The treatment for PH is either in pill form, there are a few different meds out now. And then there is continuous IV meds, diuretics, blood thinners and some other stuff. Usually it's a combination of the IV meds and pills, always to include the diuretics and blood thinners. Viagra is even a form of treatment for it, in combination with the other stuff. Strange huh? If it is Primary, I think it has to genetic or it could be Idiopathic and would be treated the same as Primary. Secondary, could be caused from but not limited to, Sleep Apnea, other heart conditions, COPD and Emphysema. I do have sleep apnea, but it is well controlled and that would be the one they think would have caused mine. I've had it for 13 yrs. The PH I was dx'd with last July, but I didn't seek treatment until December, as I was denied treatment in the hospital last year, so I didn't think it was a big deal. Then I didn't have the nerve to look it up until December and about freaked out. So I've been seeking treatment since January when I first saw my PCP for it. I had no idea it wasn't a matter of just writing a prescription. The treatment costs over $4000 a month but Medicare pays for it, I don't have to worry about that. My co-pay would only be $5 just for the first month, then free the rest of the year and that is just for the IV Med. Not including anything else. Mine could also be Idiopathic if they don't find what caused it, then that's what it will be. If it is due to something with the left side of the heart, then they can't use the same treatment as they do for IPH and PPH. So, I'm praying for IPH at least, if this is truly what I have. The only true test to dx it is the Right Heart Catherization. Which, as I said was done on 7/7 and it was inconclusive due to me having water built up around my lungs and heart that we weren't aware of and my Blood Pressure being too high. So he added another med for the BP and water retention and we will redo the Right Heart Cath in Oct. They either go in through the neck or groin into a main artery, he went in through my neck, into the juggler vein. This was much better than through the groin. I've had the left heart cath done that way twice and this was much better. The test they do to see if you possibly have PH is the Echo, done with dies and in a special way, by a special Tech. I had that done last year, and that is how I was initially dx'd. The RHC will confirm the dx and give them more accurate numbers of my pulmonary pressures. I hope I told this in a way that it is understandable. I'm still learning about it, so it sounds more complicated even to me. lol Hope you are feeling better tomorrow. Let us know what the doc says on Monday! If you put enough energy into doubt, something will undoubtedly go wrong. Instead, focus on the positive possibilities with a hopeful attitude. RE: hopefully final update on leg to Tommie Yes this is due to a cat bite. I am a vet tech and I was working at a local emergency clinic. I was also teaching in the vet tech program at the time. After I got bit, I felt bad for the cat. And actually five minutes after it bit me, it passed away. I felt HORRIBLE for the owner as she was so close to her cat and loved him dearly. I did not want her to know that he bit me. She didn't need to deal with that on top of hearing her cat passed away. After I washed out the bite at the clinic, I went directly to the emergency room A number of years ago I was bit by another cat while working and had it cleaned out, put on antibiotics, but within 12 hours, it became completely infected. So I had to have surgery with that one as well since the infection was in my joint. But I healed from that with no lasting effects. of Use | Unsubscribe .
