Guest guest
Thanks Rogene on an enlightening story. I never knew that Sculptra or Restylane had any silicone in them at all! Did I read this wrong? Thanks for the info. Guest guest
No . . . They don't contain silicone! Thank Goodness! Rogene " Sculptra, Collagen and Restylane are three products used to plump up lines, lips and to treat acne scars. The results from these products are temporary, however. Silicone's effects, on the other hand, are permanent. "
Guest guest
Thanks. I wasn't sure how I was reading that. How can they allow silicone back on the market as a filler?!Rogene S <saxony01@...> wrote: No . . . They don't contain silicone! Thank Goodness! Guest guest
It beats me! . . . There's a gimic that's used called " off label uses " . ... If a product is approved for ANYTHING, it can be used for other purposes. Silicone has long been used, in tiny amounts for other things . . . I guess all they have to do is to keep stretching the facts to see how far they can go! There's a lot of money out there dedicated to keeping this on the market. All we can do is to keep contacting our congressmen/women, writing letters and spreading the truth. God Help Us All, Rogene
Guest guest
I undrestand that silicone is used in punctal plugs, hip joints, etc. I didn't know they could inject it into the skin. I thought that was banned years ago.Rogene S <saxony01@...> wrote: It beats me! . . . There's a gimic that's used called "off label uses" ... Guest guest
I was told by either Leonard (FDA), or Zuckerman, that silicone injections for certain purposes have always been legal. . . That doesn't mean they're safe. On the other hand, the so called " safe " injections use a very small amount of silicone. Nothing like the amount in a breast implant. If one were to get sick from it, it's unlikely the connection to the injection would ever be made - unless you've seen the number of women we have in the support groups with the same issues!
