Guest guest
Your increased heart rate was probably from the sugar in the Sprite and the fact your body turns the potatos into sugar - so you bascially had a double dose of sugar. I get this after I eat pasta, potatos, some legumes, most breads, and all processed sugars!!! Guest guest
I don't know...the fact that you lost such weight in such a short amount of time. I know some medicines that are supposed to help with weight will speed up your heart. Did you have any heart racing with potatoes and Sprite before you started the medication? Guest guest
I convinced the ped to give us five more days of Omnicef for 's sinus infection, so she'll get a total of 16 days (there was extra in the bottle for the first 10 day course) and then be re-evaluated. Though I know if they looked at her right now they would say she's clear but I " know " she hasn't completely kicked it yet. Then yesterday the " sinus behavior " was really bad (2 tantrums + much attitude) and later in the evening I noticed what looked like petechiae (little blood spots under the skin) on the fronts and backs of her shoulders, plus some on her chest below her neck. I know that can be a sign of sepsis but she had no fever whatsoever and was acting her usual, so I decided just to wait for this morning and check her in the night to make sure it wasn't spreading or increasing. She didn't seem sick. But it was still not a fun night for me! Guilt! But I just had the feeling she wasn't really sick and I didn't want to do the whole ER thing over something I knew was nothing. Our protocol with her antibody def would say the ER trip was our call, but I was hoping my mommy instincts were working. It was the right decision because she was still the same this morning and the ped didn't really think it looked like petechiae (mostly because she did not appear sick at all), though it did not blanch when pressed. He did a CBC (finger stick, she didn't even cry though we were out of EMLA! And she said " thank you " to the nurse after!) and the machine messed up and didn't give a white count, but he was just looking at platelets anyway, which were fine. I assume if it were really petechiae the platelets would be off and then you'd want to look for the cause (do a white count w/diff). So the guess is that we have a new nonspecific virus on top of the sinus infection she's finishing. My husband is discouraged because he's afraid we're going to have to cut back on the new activities. She just took her first class ever this Spring, she went to gymnastics four whole times. She missed once due to illness and then also had her sinus infection during the last class. Plus we went to our local public pool for the first time ever last Saturday, and she LOVED it more than anything in the world. I'm not cutting back on anything yet, I bet if you asked her she'd say it was worth it. But I hate that she's fighting two different things right now. (mom to , age 3. Currently has polysaccharide antibody def, previously had transient IgG, IgA, t-cell & other defs)

Guest guest
Velvet! Hooray! I'm so glad he was accepted! I know what you mean about hurting for our kid and their social issues. My son is nearly eight, and he comes home insisting no one likes him either. Well, some people do. I wish I could encourage him to focus on what goes right instead of what doesn't. I tell him that mistakes are things to learn by, that everyone makes them, that we pick ourselves up and slog on the best we can. Sasha does like to hear that he isn't alone with his struggles, but he feels that his are more extreme, and I suppose they are. Oh it is hard, isn't it? Poor Sasha is just so clueless in the park and other public places. I feel that I must watch him every second and coach him from the sidelines. I do not like to do this, and my interference isn't always welcome. Believe me, I am not naturally a hovering parent, so this is really hard on me. But some day perhaps I will discover that fine line between helping too little and helping too much. Best wishes to you, Velvet. I hope son #3 benefits from the diagnostic evaluation and that you will get some answers to the questions about ADHD vs. AS. Guest guest
VELVET : HOW OLD IS YOUR CHILD? I CRIED WHEN I READ YOUR POST BECAUSE I KNOW HOW PAINFUL IS TO HEAR YOUR SON TELLING YOU THAT NO ONE LIKES HIM AT SCHOOL . THAT'S WHAT I'M GOING THROUGH RIGHT NOW AND MY HEART IS BLEEDING BECAUSE I FEEL THE PAIN MY OWN SON IS GOING THROUGH AT SCHOOL HE ALSO TAKES CONCERTA BUT HAS NOT BEEN WORKING FOR HIM. I WISH I COULD FIND A SUPPORT GROUP IN MY AREA SO I COULD MEET WITH OTHER PARENTS WHO GO THROUGH THIS AND THAT MY SON COULD MEET WITH OTHER CHILDREN LIKE HIM. Guest guest
Dear Marice, My son will be 9 years of age this week as a matter of fact. All his days are not difficult; generally he is a happy-go-lucky soul. I can only hope that this is how his take on life and other people will be as he matures. I am worried, no doubt, but I feel blessed that I have him - and, his 3 other brothers to help him and protect him!!! Son #3 has said on occasion that he knows that he is tall and will be a big guy when he grows up (takes after his 6'1 " Dad) so other people will not pick on him then! - lol - he is a gem! If you have a Health Unit in your neck of the world (I am in Canada) you might try contacting them for tips on a support group near you. That or your nearest children's hospital to find some leads. Personally, I gain my support through these wonderful online group(s). For AS, this particular group is awesome, IMO. Please do not feel that you are alone... though we may be far apart in distance all of our hearts are nearby. -Velvet P.S. Please share more about your son - age, etc. > VELVET : > HOW OLD IS YOUR CHILD? Guest guest
well said Kenda - and lets also make sure that I do not get mixed up as this person. My name is Shari and I have been with this group and helped for years.... I have not posted much lately so some of the newbies may not know me as I have been ill. In my few years here we have had a handful of people come in here and stir things up and some people who are not who they claim to be.... we just get through it and move on. I have had a lot going on lately - my series of seizures last week and subsequent hospitalization at the helm. I am so confused lately - I think the anti-seizure meds are making me feel a little weird. Remember - I am always here for anyone that needs help or advice - I just have flares sometime that keep me out of the loop for a few weeks. Remember all: my name is spelled Shari.... I have no idea what has been going on the last few week w/ some of the newer people as I had no way to read all the messages nut I wanted to make sure I was not mistaken for someone that I am not....Seems like there have been a few issues here. Rogene and some of the others that have been around for a while can attest to who I am - I am one of the good guys!! I hope all this mess is cleared sp soon - please let me know if I can be of assistance.... thanks all!! love shari
