Guest guest
Thank you, i urge everyone on this forum to do as i have done and send their feelings to their local papers on anything of concern to us lyme patients , also do as i have done and contact ur papers explaining ur experiances with lyme disease ask them if they would like to do an article on your battle for there paper.....i thought this was stupid at first but so far i have been the subject of 3 articles , one that ran statewide ( 3/4 page) inthe state of NJ, i recieved much feedback from others with lyme from all of them, we MUST keep our disease in front of the public eye, the more exposure we can get for our disease and the more pressure we can put on the powers that be the better of we shall one day be......also i emplore all lymies in the state of NJ to contact the governors office and all of their state representitives and demand that the attorney general hold the same type of hearing as were held in conn. Guest guest
Great letter Reid, I see by that you have sent this letter to your local papers....great idea. Let us know if there is a response!!! Marta [Lyme-aid] Letter to the editor >From: RMcmur3194@... > >Dear Editor. > During the last couple of weeks I have noticed large, full page ads for >the Lyme Disease vaccine called " Lymerix. " While this vaccine is a step in the >right direction it should only be taken by people who definitely do not have >an " active Lyme >Disease infection. " As some Doctors now believe that once you have contracted >Lyme you will always have an " active infection " even though it may be in >remission. I beg that people who have Believed they " had " Lyme only to be >dismissed that it could not be due to a negative blood test refrain from >being injected with the vaccine. Guest guest
Excellent letter! I think they have probably received 100's of letters by now and I couldn't be more pleased. The Cranio group is writing also. How dare they not mention that a child needs to have Cranio ruled out! People Magazine is obviously no better than any other crappy tabloid! Good job ladies! Guest guest
Hi , How lucky little Kaylee is, to have you for her Mom! I'm not sure that she's quite old enough yet to fully understand but even so, I'm sure your family must be extremely proud of you - as we are! You've created a terrific editorial. You can tell that you've put a lot of thought and care into it. I'll be very surprised if this doesn't stir things up a bit. I hope you'll keep us updated and let us know if you get any response. (I can't help wondering if your phone will be ringing off the hook soon?) I'm also happy that you'll be meeting soon, for the local area support group. I hope that works out well. With advocates like you, all children with JRA can almost certainly be assured brighter futures. Your efforts are much appreciated. Take Care, Georgina A MOM'S PLEA FOR SOME HELP Why is Tarboro the way it is? Why is everyone, or what seems to be everyone in Tarboro so tradition oriented? Why so pessimistic about allowing new events? I have been trying desperately to raise awareness about Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis (JRA) in our community. I even did an article a few months back, trying to find other families that have kids with JRA so I could start a support group and got no response whatsoever. I am now trying to organize an Arthritis Walk for next year and it seems next to impossible to do. I was given a person to contact about the location for the walk. I was told that I might want to do a different type of event as there are other walks close to the time I would like to do the Arthritis Walk. The participation might not be so good and I would want it to be a success. Why should I change what I want to do? The other walks that are held are for different causes. This would be the only Arthritis Walk held in Eastern North Carolina and I plan to include Rocky Mount, and Greenville instead of having an isolated Tarboro event. I think by doing this and getting the other cities involved it would be a great success and help everyone with arthritis. I am a " mom on a mission " so to speak as my three-year-old daughter has JRA. I am determined to do anything and everything I can to raise awareness about JRA and do everything possible to raise all the money I can to help in the research of arthritis and finding a cure. Why does it seem that if you are the " right kind of person " everyone jumps to help you? If you live on the right side of town, you drive the right kind of car, you have the right amount of money, etc, people in Tarboro jump to help you, but if you are just an everyday working person like myself, then no one wants to help you or you are just ignored. Why do Tarboro people want to be so hush hush about some things, but others they want the world to know? I have been a citizen of this town the marjority of my life, and I am disgusted and hurt by the lack of response from the community I have grown up in not responding to help for a good cause. There are many people suffering daily from arthritis and by having this walk here we could raise money to help in the research to find a cure. Research is expensive and without people as myself willing to take on the challenge and responsibility of organizing a walk there is no money to research a cure and help the 70 million Americans, 300,000 of those being children. What if it was your child suffering from JRA or any other disease and you wanted to start a walk or another event to raise money for research and every which way you turned it was greeted with a pessimistic attitude? How would you feel? I am trying desperately to do something that will benefit a lot of people. Want the people of Tarboro step up and help me achieve this goal and help a l ot of arthritis sufferers? If you would like to help, call 641-1659 or e-mail me at maydo65@.... I am looking for anyone that is willing and able to help. Dew, Tarboro Letter to the Editor HI all, Just a note to let everyone know that I am trying to start a walk in our town next year. I know that seems like a long time away, but i have never done anything like this before so I want to give myself plenty of time. I have had no luck getting anywhere in our town so I wrote a letter to the editor. The link below should take you to the letter. I would like some feed back on this if anyone has time. Thanks for helping me out and listening to me vent. I know I am not well known here, but everything I get from this group makes a big difference. I will be attending my first JRA support group meeting that a lady in Raleigh is trying to get up and going on Sunday, Sept 25. I will be sharing this support group with her and all there. I hope all are having a great week. For those of you not doing so well, I will say an extra prayer for you and hope all gets better. http://dailysoutherner.com/articles/2005/09/19/news/editorial/opinion2. txt
Guest guest
To the Editor of the Jamaica Plain Gazette, I can honestly say in my entire life I have never written a Letter to the Editor about an advertisement, but in this Holiday Season, my Christmas festivities and nearing the end of another year, I was totally uplifted reading the full page ad placed by Mordy Levin and Terry Bruce from Boston Community Ventures. So many of the Gazette's readership are working on various issues that pit good against not so good and when I get discouraged, I have to keep reminding myself that good overpowers bad each and every time but not always on our personal timetable. I will take the ad's quote from Mohandas Gandhi " When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they always fall - think of it, always, " frame it and put it in a prominent place in my home for inspiration. Thanks Mordy and Terry. What a great gift. Mulvey son
