Guest guest
My son has recently been eating all the time. Bowl after bowl of chicken and noodle made with brown rice pasta, chicken, carrots, and celery. Chicken nuggets made with fresh chicken breasts lightly coated with rice flour and seasonings. Applesauce, Bananas, pureed Vegetables, organic fruit leathers, turkey breast slices. He seems to be eating every 30 minutes. Does anyone have any suggestions why he may be doing this and still why he doesn't manage to gain much weight?
Guest guest
This is very common. Possibly, it means too much thyroid hormone, signaling the body to burn too much energy. Also, it could be that his adrenal glands are not making enough (or the right amount of) cortisol. Here is a cool link: <http://www.drrind.com/scorecardmatrix.asp> I hope it helps you find some clues as to what is causing it. I still haven't studied the thyroid, adrenals, and pancreas enough to understand what is going on with them and why the imbalances happen in our kids. I DO know that there is often a history of thyroid problems in families of children with autism (whether it is known or not). I certainly believe that having adrenal cortex extract on hand is a good thing for people who are doing chelation and other forms of detox. > > My son has recently been eating all the time. Guest guest
for us overeating and not putting on weight was most probably linked to gut issues (bad bacteria, reflux etc) as it got much better when we started SCD and then improved even more when we introduced enzymes, natural antibacterials etc. Natasa > > > > My son has recently been eating all the time. Guest guest
The only thing I can find is Mung Bean noodles by Eden foods. They are like transparent asian noodles. Is that similar to what you have? I will be doing research on changing my fish oil and probiotic today. I am also ordering the SCD diet book today. Thanks! I am so glad to have so many great suggestions! From: Christel King <christel76@together .net>Subject: Re: Excessive eating? Guest guest
this is exactly bms our son had before SCD. while waiting for the book you can also read info on the website http://breakingtheviciouscycle.info/autism/autism.htm maybe try Houston Enzymes in addition or instead of the one you are using (?), also Enzymedica is a very good brand... Guest guest
You might consider the possibility of parasites. The combination of eating a lot and not gaining makes me think of this. Does your child have an itch anal area? What about grinding of the teeth? What about worse behavior around the full moon? Those are some symptoms I have read about. Guest guest
In our house these symptoms were parasites also. In addition, other symptoms can include alternating between constipation and diarreah, itchy nose and night waking between 2-4 AM. Have you run a stool test lately? If you just want to check for parasites only, Metametrix has a parasitoloty stool test for around $100. It took us 4 months to finally get rid of parasite. Guest guest
fruit is not allowed only in the first few days, then it is peeled and cooked for a while... then you can have it in moderate amounts, or more if tolerated - depends on individuals Natasa > > > > > > My son has recently been eating all the time. Guest guest
Yes, we recently had a comprehensive stool analysis and it showed no parasites. We had some bad bacteria which we took Cipro for and a +1 on yeast. Two strands of good bacteria were not even detected, so we are taking a probiotic with those. Subject: Re: Excessive eating? Guest guest
I'm curious as to which bad bacteria you had and if the cipro helped. This situation sounds like my daughter's, and I haven't given her the antibiotic yet...I've been scared it will kill off even more of her good bacteria, and like yours, she had two strains not detected From: <rickjuliarusso@ comcast.net>Subject: Re: Excessive eating? Guest guest
, I'm still waiting for my test to come. In the mean time, can you share how you get rid of the parasites? Thanks.Amber In our house these symptoms were parasites also. Guest guest
Amber, We used 3 different treatments to finally get rid of those darn things. First we did 30 days of a product called Humaworm. It is an herbal combination and it worked wonders. 2 weeks after the treatment ended, they were back. Next our DAN prescribed Alinia. Again, it is a 2 week Rx and as soon as the treatment was over, parasites returned. Finally we tried a Bioray product called Artemesia and Clove and that is what did the trick. I love that stuff. That said, we started LDN and Epicor Jr. after the first round of Humaworm. My son had very low fecal Slg A so there was no gut barrier immunity. I think he just kept picking up a new parasite and didn't have the imuume strength to fight them off. Like natural yeast fighters, you can't stay on the same herbal parasite protocol for too long or it will stop working. Both Humaworm and Bioray recommend doing a parasite clense I believe every 3-6 months. We are doing one right now. Also, it is a good idea to treat the whole family at once as these suckers are very contagious within a household. Ridding parasites led to one of the largest gains in my son's recovery. Guest guest
We took the Cipro and just made sure to give extra probiotics before, during, and after. My son had no negative reactions from it at all. I noticed no major changes in his behavior either, but like I said, we do not get another stool sample done until Feb.
