Hi...welcome.

I dunno about that Osteo and RSD. I have a couple of similarities. I guess it

depends on what joint it destroys. Mine has done a special number on my spine

and I've had Osteo since early 20's.

I was 66 yesterday...so it's had time to do it's thing. In the past several

years it took out L3 L4 and crunched the nerves. My right leg now has numbness,

extreme burning, red hot pins and needles, itching you can't scratch because it

is too numb. I know it's not the real thing as RSD but I can relate to that

kind frustration. If that sensation were all over my body I'd go nuts. Gotta

hand it to the RSD folks for trucking on.

The fibro/myofacial pain syndrome is fun and games as well. And then there's

" The Beast " . The spasm from hell. At least we learned opiates blocks the

signal from signal to spasm. A synaptic type of interference from the Codeine

in the T3's. If I ever have to have a doctor who doesn't believe in opiates,

I'm screwed!! Big time.

My sister in law is a fibro person with diabetes. She has the neuro crap as

well. What a pair we are. She manages without opiates or anything like that.

I couldn't. She's probably the model patient but I want my pain meds, and I

won't take no for an answer. I'm the big baby I guess.

However if she had " The Beast " spasm and opiates are the ONLY control, I'd put

money that she'd do it.

Anyhow...welcome. When my leg flairs I'll think of you all.

There is a site called Real Age that has a lot to do with diet.

http://www.realage.com/default.aspx

I get routine emails from them and they have a lot to say about healthy eating.

*sigh* Pain sucks.

Thank you kindly for the b'day greeting!

As for " behavior " , well, speaking only for myself, I can get a bit short-fused

when I've been hurting badly for a while; and I dare say many of us have. I

guess we've got to be patient with each other (after all, if we can't, who else

can)?

A pain specialist, eh? My doctor never reccommended me to one. He did suggest a

chiropractor though (that's been put on the back burner because unfortunately

things are a bit tight right now and Ontario Health Insurance doesn't cover

chiropractors). Right now, for my pains, I use Advil Extra Strength Liquid Caps

(or Fiorinal-C (.5) or Tylenol C when the hurting is really bad). The Demerol is

only prescribed for when the pain can't be reached by my other meds. I can't use

Celebrex or Arthrotec anymore because I swear the pain they give my

stomach...well, its intollerable.

I'm thinking I might research some of those natural remedies. Anybody here have

any experience with those? Good or bad? Or maybe treatment through diet? Special

exercises?

Anyway, wishing you, all of you, good health without pain.

Happy Belated 44th Birthday! Nice to meet you! There are truly a lot of great

people here at this group. You really won't regret joining and just to let you

know. Things you might have read on here yesterday, is not our normal behavior.

I hope none of this runs you off. Hang around a few days, you'll see how truly

loving and supportive this group is. I've been a member about 4 yrs now.

Now to the illnesses. I too have Fibro and Diabetes. I also have OsteoArthritis,

which is nothing compared to RA, but I do understand your pain and frustration

with diabetes. I'm Type 2 as well. I didn't start out as young as you did, bless

your heart :( I'm so sorry you've lived such a rough life thus far. It can only

get better, right? If not the physical aspects, the emotional aspects can and

that does help. I've been sick for 13 yrs and I still get frustrated at times.

You are so very blessed that your family is supportive and there for you. You

have traveled such a long road :( What is your pain currently treated with for

the fibro? The Analgesics seem to work the best. The Opiates are what most of us

are on. As well as muscle relaxers. Personally I take long acting Morphine as

well as short acting for break thru pain. Do you see a Pain Management

Specialist? If not, I highly recommend it. They can better treat your pain over

all. As far as the diabetes, what kind of problems are you having? What type of

meds do you take?

I look forward to hearing back from you Kei. And hope you are having a decent

day.

Hugs

Kei,

I personally haven't found anything natural to treat my pain. I started out 13

yrs ago taking lots of Advil. After 2 yrs of taking between 200 and 300 per

month, my doc found my liver enzymes were elevated and he was unaware of what I

used for pain because I just hadn't told him. Didn't need to tell him so I

thought. lol I was taking care of it. Well, he took me off the Advil right away

because it was causing liver damage. I sure didn't need that on top of

everything else. He put me on Lortab and Soma, a muscle relaxant. And as the

pain has gotten worse over the years and my body has become immune to certain

meds, I've had to take stronger stuff. I try really hard not to go higher in the

strength until I just have to because I fear running out of things to take. What

do you do after you reach the top and then there is nothing more to go to? That

scares me to death. I don't know what they do in a case like that. Have never

known anyone to reach that level. And I hope I never do. I need to ask my doc

about that, just so I have the answer.

As far as diet for Fibro, you could surf the net. I think I read once that there

might be some foods that could aggravate Fibro pain. I've not found that to be

true in my case though. I've done the trial and error thing just to see if there

were anything I could discontinue eating to make things better. Do a Google

search for " foods that increase Fibromyalgia pain " . That just might bring up

some sites on the issue for you.

Good look in your search and if there is anything I can do to help you, please

let me know and I can help you search if nothing else.

Take care.

> Hi I'm new. Let me tell u alittle about me. I have chronic pain syndrome

from osteoarthritis of the neck, diabetes type 1 for 10 years and now carpal

tunnel of L hand. Thankfully they will operate. I have nerve damage in the

(depressed) Presently I'm apealing SSD.

microsprint that I go to watch him race. Hopefully he will get engaged soon to

his long time girlfriend.

Hi Tami,

I have been living in pain for the past 20yrs, the past 5yrs has been the worse

as my health problems worsen. I also fight with depression, mainly from all of

the chronic pain. Glad to hear your husband understands, mine doesn't & it's

causing problems with our relationship. I hope your surgery goes well, have they

scheduled it yet? I am having surgery on 3/30 to remove my cervix & possible

cancer (they will test the lesion after it is removed), I hope this will relieve

some of my pain. My list of other health problems is to long for me to want to

type here. I have recently joined a new group through yahoo called

multiplehealthconditions, where we can vent & get support when having to live

with a lot of health problems. I also like to chat live online through either

yahoo or classmates.

I am looking for friends that understands what we have to deal with, if you

would like to be friends please request to add me to your friends list. Take

care.

Lots of

cats. Don't you hate that test for carpel tunnel! I had it 3x! the thumb partr

is the worst. Ohhhhhhhhhhh does that hurt.!!!!!. I'm just really am glad that

they will do surgery now. With right hand it was 13 yrs of pain before surgery.

I would wake up with hand on fire. I wore a brace almost 24 hrs. In the end it

didn't help much. It was aweful. I froze my shoulder couple yrs ago. It would

go into muscle spasms and the nerves would set my shoulder on fire. The only

thing they gave me was naproxon. What a joke. Take care amd thanks for

responding to my post. I really appreciate the support. Eeryday is a struggle

t get through and not to give up. Take care. Huzs and peace, Tami (*u*)
