Guest guest
, do you exercise? I remember taking up jogging in college and it really helped me de-stress, have more energy and get my focus together. And the endorphins are great for mild depression (I started working out again recently and notice a huge difference in how much happier I feel.) Also, I've never done it, but I've heard meditation is VERY helpful for increasing focus and making you feel more calm and centered. And if there's a yoga class near you, definitely check it out -- majorly relaxing! Guest guest
I have not been to school yet but I feel an urgent need to go. I just can't have anything happen to hubby and be forced to go back to the foo. I told dh to put enough in life insurance that God forbid but supposing for a moment something were to happen to him that I would be able to pay off the house, pay bills for a few years and go to school and get a degree. He is so understanding because in no way dose he want our children raised in that setting. So he is happy to comply. I plan to start my education in the next 1-2 years I hope to get a degree in psychology specializing in personality disorders. I am going to take my time so I don't get a nervous break down. But I would love to be called Dr lizzy and tell my parent to stick that in their pipe and smoke it. HA. Plus I would love to help all the K/o's. That is my real passion. I have been fortunate enough to be able to volunteer for a non profit organization for the last 3 years doing counseling/interviewing and many of those people have mental illness and very hard life problems. I have been able to excel in that area. Lucky for me there is no degree required there and they are always looking for help. The people there have grown to love and trust me. I have been able to keep all the stress there when I leave and I know I listen with all I have so I think I would be pretty good at it in that aspect it is just a mater of if I would be smart enough. But I agree with the exercise it is a great distresses. I love a good walk, bike ride, or just being in the garden if I am to tired. I have kids so sometimes I just race them around the house or down the driveway or we play catch. It doesn't have to be complicated just get up and move. This helps for sure. As for meditation I am sure it helps. I once read If you have trouble falling asleep write your issue on a paper before you sleep in a prayer and put in under your pillow (obviously this works for any religion) the point is to talk to God and get out your feelings and trust. Anyways they say this will help you sleep. I tried it I think I not only fell asleep better but I built my faith and trust in God. I found this form of meditation easy and relaxing. Do what works for you weather it is an hour a day on a yoga mat, writing in a journal, praying in your mind or an envelope under your pillow. But meditation in good. It prolongs life and gives the mind peace. (at least that was what an old friend from India told me) He said it didn't matter how you did it but everybody should have some form of mediation, even 5 minutes a day. Good luck to all.
