Because so few of the people who have mold illness have access to the

resources necessary to see these shining stars of medicine, I feel that its

VERY important that the physicians and others who are doing research in this

field publish the directions they are going in real time - even informally

of necessary, so that the pace of scientific discovery could be

accellerated.

Otherwise three or four years from now we will probably be not much farther

than we are now, because the information takes a long time to even just

percolate out into this relatively well connected community of

computer/Internet users.

What about the huge numbers of people who don't have medical insurance at

all. Their lives are being destroyed too. They bleed the same blood that the

insured bleed. When they die, their families are destroyed just as quickly.

Even if they can't complain to anyone on the Net.

There is an organization called Science Commons ( sciencecommons.org ) that

is proposing a better, open model for the publication of research findings.

I think that the doctors involved with mold illness should make it their

business to get the word out about their cutting-edge therapies, and also

they should publish a second kind of information, a list of things people

who think they have mold illness who don't have access to medical care can

do themselves to improve their health.

For example, I met a guy today who clearly has mold illness, but he doesn't

have the normal kind of insurance, just catastrophic, and the $50 here, $100

there to buy prescribed drugs is too much for him, financially.

He's clearly just getting by from month to month..

What can someone like him do? Don't tell him to go to his local MD, not only

can't he afford it, it is worse than nothing because he has to spend money

he doesn't have.

His job involves work in situations that involve mold, and so avoidance

isn't an option for him either. And its the only kind of job he can do for

decent pay, its clear. (He's a building contractor)

What can people like him do? He has to feed his family.
