Guest guest
-- I am so sorry about your dental visits. We have a wonderful dentist in Redding who works with young and/or handicapped children. He has two quiet rooms. You come in early, and the child picks a colored/flavored nose. With their favorite toy or blanket, they relax and breathe in the nose. They truly smell delicious! The nitrous oxide relaxes them completely and some even go to sleep. Checkups, fillings, etc., are done without fuss or fear. Those with more being done, come in before they eat breakfast, and are giving something to make them sleep. Then they read books with MOM for about 45 min. I have several handicapped children, and I have watched this man for six years do miracles. Search for a dentist in your are who does a lot with special needs children. Good luck! ~Lynn

So far we haven't had to put Maddie to sleep (she's had two teeth pulled last year too), but I think we will one day. Social pictures don't work for Maddie YET....I have faith we'll get there though. We've also been lucky in that she's had no cavities, although I've heard that kids with DS tend not to get them. Donna

Guest guest
Went to dentist today. I asked for oxygen while he worked and it totally helped! My immediate headache went away instantly. You might want to try this next time you go. felice
