Guest guest
Dresden plans basement cleanup Wiscasset Newspaper - Wiscasset,ME, Barbara http://wiscassetnewspaper.maine.com/2006-12-14/dresden_selectmen.html A flooded basement last spring at Dresden's Town Hall continues to create problems for town employees, long after the waters have receded. The flood's aftermath was discussed at Monday night's selectmen's meeting. Selectman Rae described a serious mold problem that developed as a result of the water damage. Selectman Ottum explained that there are dangerous levels of mold in the air in the basement, and there is detectable mold in the air on the main floor. He said that it could affect some people who are sensitive or allergic. The selectmen voted unanimously to award the clean-up contract to Bio-safe, an environmental company in Westbrook. In addition to disposing of items in the basement, records that must be kept will be cleaned, the floors, walls, and the ceiling will be sealed. The process will take about six months and cost about $9,850.
