Guest guest
150 Stories Reviewed on HealthNewsReview.org supporting excellence in health & medical news reporting July 17, 2006 __________________________________________ HealthNewsReview.org is now three months old. We have reviewed more than 150 stories on the site. And we're gratified by how you've responded to our early efforts. We've recently reviewed stories on Reiki, Tylenol, prostate cancer, macular degeneration, and Alzheimer's disease. We thought you might be interested in the distribution of scores at this point. Here's the scorecard of the first 151 stories reviewed: Scores Number Percentage* Five Star Stories 13 9% Four Star Stories 27 18% Three Star Stories 34 23% Two Star Stories 50 33% One Star Stories 23 15% Zero Star Stories 4 3% (rounding brings percentage above 100%) Remember that you can browse through any review on the site by clicking " Browse by date/source " in the left margin. Choose the category of publication or date on the right hand side of the next page, then use the pull-down menu to select the specific publication or date of interest, and click " Go. " And don't forget about the " Things You Should Know About Research Stories " column on the right margin of the home page. We'll be adding to this column soon with new items such as the problems with news coverage from scientific meetings. Finally, we will soon add new benefits for registered users. You will be able to sign up for and receive automatic e-mail digests that will summarize recent reviews. And you'll be able to choose how often you wish to receive these digests: once a week, once every two weeks, or once every month. Or you'll be able to sign up for automatic e-mail notices whenever we review a story on a topic of special interest to you. So if you're interested in breast cancer or prostate cancer or heart disease, you'll be able to tell us that and we'll send you notices when stories on those topics are reviewed. We're working on these features now and hope to deliver them soon. We welcome your general feedback on the site, and your specific comments about any story or review (see the " Voice Your Opinion " option at the end of any story review.) Thanks for your continued interest in our efforts to support excellence in health and medical journalism. - The HealthNewsReview.org team Nutrition.teach-nology.com Ortiz, RD nrord@...
