Guest guest
Jane, why can't you move? I am not condemming you, I just want to get an impression of some of the reasons why mold sick people often can't move, plain and simple.. Not that they make a choice not to move, they often can't move because they can't rent.. (or buy) another place.. and there aren't family members, friends who will take them in, and they can't afford hotels.. I was trying to explain to some yesterday why a lot of mold-sick people aren't in the stable financial situation they would need to be - when they lose their jobs, etc - where they could move if they wanted to, or even needed to, unless they wanted to trade the moldy place for no home at all - but it was like takiing to a brick wall.. Last night I saw this heartbreaking story about a 91 year old man who had supported himself all his life - now living on Social Security who had had a cheap apartment ($500) but his landlord died and the landlords children inherited the place and sent him a 30 day notice that his rent is going to be raised to $2200. Nobody has an answer for him of where he can go. Social Security isn't enough for anything at all in this area.. He is going to go live in his car.. He was crying.. it was really so sad.. People in that situation don't last long, they just give up the ghost.. they die.. Maybe it says pneumonia or flu or something else on their death certificate but what it really is is heartbreak.. That cheap apartment was really what was keeping him alive.. without it, things don't add up for him..
