I agree totally. With the few people I discuss my childhood, I can

see when they get to the point that they can no longer grasp what I am

saying. As part of my healing, it is important for me to state the

reality of my childhood situation. I have found stating the following

to be helpful to me, and it is also in words that most people can

understand. What I now say is that my mother was emotionally and

mentally abusive, and physically and medically negligent during the

whole time I was in her care. Most people can relate to the

term 'abuse', even if they haven't had any experience with it.
