Guest guest
I had a great session with my therapist today. Had a real breakthrough. She (the therapist) walked me through what kind of life I wanted -- and not one that's merely a reaction to people like my nada. But a true picture of what kind of life I want -- and by contrast, what I don't. The friendships, the activities, assertiveness, etc. Since they're my parents, she (therapist) said I could maintain minimal contact by sending cards on birthdays and include pics of the kids -- still invite them to kids' plays and sports games, etc. But she said " Don't expect them to accept or show up, and get on with your life. Keep neutral and honor the family you have now. " It was a great session. As I drove away, that popular song by Natasha Bedingfield, " Unwritten " was playing and I thought it a fitting anthem for the new lives we on this board strive to make for ourselves -- without the self-serving manipulations of BPD. As the song says, when we break away, we are free to live the lives we want and design for ourselves, because we have that human right. Unwritten I am unwritten, Can't read my mind I'm undefined I'm just beginning The pen's in my hand Ending unplanned Staring at the blank page before you Open up the dirty window Let the sun illuminate the words That you could not find Reaching for something in the distance So close you can almost taste it Release your inhibitions Feel the rain on your skin No one else can feel it for you Only you can let it in No one else, no one else Can speak the words on your lips drench yourself in words unspoken Live your life with arms wide open Today is where your book begins The rest is still unwritten Oh Oh, oh I break tradition Sometimes my tries Are outside the lines We've been conditioned To not make mistakes But I can't live that way oh, oh Staring at the blank page before you Open up the dirty window Let the sun illuminate the words That you could not find Reaching for something in the distance So close you can almost taste it Release your inhibitions Feel the rain on your skin No one else can feel it for you Only you can let it in No one else, no one else Can speak the words on your lips drench yourself in words unspoken Live your life with arms wide open Today is where your book begins Feel the rain on your skin No one else can feel it for you Only you can let it in No one else, no one else Can speak the words on your lips drench yourself in words unspoken Live your life with arms wide open Today is where your book begins The rest is still unwritten Staring at the blank page before you Open up the dirty window Let the sun illuminate the words That you could not find Reaching for something in the distance So close you can almost taste it Release your inhibitions OH Feel the rain on your skin No one else can feel it for you Only you can let it in No one else, no one else Can speak the words on your lips drench yourself in words unspoken Live your life with arms wide open Today is where your book begins Feel the rain on your skin No one else can feel it for you Only you can let it in No one else, no one else Can speak the words on your lips drench yourself in words unspoken Live you life with arms wide open Today is where you book begins The rest is still unwritten The rest is still unwritten the rest is still unwritten (YEAH! YEAH! YEAH!) Yeah, is right!!! Blessings to all -- Kylaboo
