I'm curious about your comment that with GNC's brand 50 mg capsules pregnenolone

is equal to 10 mg of HC. I'm taking Source Naturals 25mg sublingual. I was

wondering how much HC that would translate to. I find that the sublingual is

radically different from caps.

I'm still trying to understand the relationship between cortisol and

pregnenolone. Does cortisol create pregnenolone (and other things)? Or are

these two independent hormones? or ???

It was general advice. I have seen some do ok with that combo, but

seen others who got to much cortisol as well. I've tried doing this

combo and didn't see a point to it (ended up with acne from to much

cortisol), plus it's pricey anyway. Pregnenolone can be taken

anytime, but morning is probably best.

When possible, cortisol should be gotten from one source. Pregnenolone

depending on the maker, can be very strong and taken with HC or pred

you risk getting to much cortisol.

GNC's brand, 50 mg capsules is about equal to 10 mg of HC I'd

estimate)I only recommend preg to those who are looking for a doc to

treat them. Also don't recommend taking DHEA with pregenolone, but

again some do ok, but others get to much DHEA that way.

If you are taking what you say and you think it's working for you, who

am I to say to change it, but for someone just getting cortisol

replacement therapy, I recommend avoiding pregnenolone.

Somehow I had it all confused and had cortisol as the precursor. I'm trying to

get my mind to accept the new picture, but for reasons I don't understand, it

keeps trying to hold onto the old picture. Maybe once I sleep on it, the

picture part of my brain will come into alignment with what I now " know " . Minds

are weird!

The reason I am taking the pregnenolone is to support estrogen and progesterone,

which tend to be a bit low without it. (I'm post-menopausal and the

pregnenolone is my only hormonal support for those.) Since cortisol is down the

chain from them, HC would not support estrogen and progesterone. (Am I correct

here?)

So, it sounds to me like I need to keep taking the pregnenolone (which I started

before I knew about HC).

However, the total may be more cortisol than is appropriate. If my supplements

have the same ratio of HC effect as the GNC ones, with 25 mg of pregnenolone, I

am getting 5 mg more cortisol than I had thought.

Maybe I need to do the temperatures again -- and get the canary club tests? Or

is there something else I should be doing to determine what is appropriate?

Pregnenolone is called the mother hormone and breaks down into

aldosterone, DHEA and cortisol and eventually sex hormones.

There are several charts on the page shows how pregnenolone is broken

down.

I've only tried GNC's brand so I can't comment on yours and my be

Yes, HC would not help estrogen and progesterone. With

pregnenolone,everyone breaks it down differently. Taking DHEA would

be a much better hormone to try raising estrogen and progesterone.

So you should take HC and DHEA in my opinion, but should always get

tested before taking any hormone. With pregnenolone, you can't

control what and how much hormone it's breaking down into.
