Guest guest
, Dr Mercola recommends cod liver oil only in the winter since there isn't much sunshine. He says in the summertime you could easily get too much if you get outside at all, and it can be toxic. That's what he says. Of course now it is winter, but do you take this all year? > > _The Benefits of Liver and Cod Liver Oil -- Cholesterol and Much, Much More_ > (http://www.cholesterol-and-health.com/Benefit-Of-Cod-Liver- Oil.html)
Guest guest
Why would cod liver oil be toxic in the summer? I have been taking it year around for a while with the 3/6/9 omegas and my multi has some in it also. Guest guest
Rhonda, he says we get enough sunshine in the summer to not need to supplement vit D in much quantity. Vit D can be toxic if we take too much and overdose of fat soluable vits don't get excreted like the water soluable ones do, so he suggests the reg fish oil in summer and cod liver oil in winter (since there is so little sun. We get alot of vit d from the sun...if we go outside enough). is a good source of info though.. > > Why would cod liver oil be toxic in the summer? Guest guest
Apologies as on my recent posting, I cut and pasted incorrectly attributed the reference to Dr. Mercola to LymeAngl and it should have been Barb. My message is the same though - it's a YMMV situation I'd just hate for someone that really needs that vitamin D to just assume they'll get what they need from the sun - some of us don't, so it's important to get that tested regularly. Guest guest
I'm not recommending one avoid cod liver oil in the summer, I'm just asking for opinion of what Dr Mercola says on topic. > > Apologies as on my recent posting, I cut and pasted incorrectly > attributed the reference to Dr. Mercola to LymeAngl and it should have
Guest guest
Seems most multi vitamins have vit. D and calcium supplements too so if I get it both in them and take cod liver oil and fish oils, I must really be overdosed but wonder how much of that is absorbed. I've taken some types of supplements since I was 17 and I think that may have helped me not be dead after so much continuous exposure. I tried one turmeric and then another later and found out two was bad on the intestines. I think that had to be it so I'm sticking to one and think mine is 700 mgs or something like that. Not sure if coicidental but my neck isn't hurting as bad today. I have cayenne also which suppose to be anti-inflammatory but haven't taken that regularly. I take so much I get tired of swallowing pills. I'd rather take turmeric than Ultram and no telling what that drug is doing. I have no choice but to go back to be poisoned Tuesday waiting for my approval out of there. I dread it so much and have a phone consultation Tuesday to get an up to date FMLA form to my HR guy that hasn't told me one thing correct yet. Out of pocket expense I do not have. I hope when I go back for results of the neuropsyche evaluation I am feeling more normal and I want to ask that doc if he's seen many people that have been exposed to mycotoxins and toxins with neuro damage etc. I figure by end of next week I may get a call to make an appt. to come in. I hope that isn't another charge but I'm sure it will be. I'm hoping when I get out of that toxic place the low dose naltrexone I started in 2004 will get my endorphins back up where they should be. My toxic heat in 2005 and the air scrubbers slammed me bad then all the toxins they are stirring up at work and the hvac is contaminated. I can't wait to be free from that horrible place but I do not have anyone to help me pay bills so I have no choice but to go in when I can which sucks. I thought my parents might help but they are not offering. I will apply for the donated shared leave but not sure I'll get too many people giving up their time to me and I needed it two months ago and the HR guy said first I had to be out the whole time now the idiot tells me I can come in when I can which means the pay I've been docked could have been paid if donated leave was given to me.
