Guest guest
Barb, I am not aware that this mother even had any signs of depression. She only stated to this one particular doctor, that they were referred to for a fungal condition, that their illnesses were caused by mold exposure within a school. This esteemed, and knowledgable specialist said indoor mold exposure does not cause these types of illnesses. The next day, Child Protective Services were at the mother's door. The good doctor did not even come to court, to support what she was saying. All of the other doctors, who did find fungal was the problem in making their diagnoses were not considered by the court. So depression had nothing to do with this one. Only a single doctor who does not believe mold causes serious illness and an aggressive Child Protective Service agency (and a school district with a pending worker's comp claim) are responsible for the horrible fiasco. Oh yea, a couple of mold position statements by esteemed medical associations that promote this garbage are in there, too. This shows the lack of emphathy shown to people suffering from depression and how some just lump it in with 'mental disorders', as if they are all equal, even though I'm sure everyone on earth has experienced depression to some degree. Small loss, slight depression that affects your mood but not your life; very large losses and anyone would have depression to point where it would impair their life, some forever, some at least temporary, so it is ashamed that some people in position of authority take this attitude, but I have seen this very thing. This is why I now only discuss my feelings with family and friends, rather than authorities. These records are getting more easily accessible to authorities of all sorts, including employers and other people that affect your life as they 'crack down on patient' access to records but more liberal access to doctors, who many times are hired by businesses to check the health of employees, etc. If you are retired, not a matter to worry about but if you are not, it is. It could affect your care in a nursing home someday as you are considered 'crazy' right from the 'get go'. > > Thanks so much for posting this
Guest guest
I have CFS as well as getting sick from toxic mold where I worked. I also have MCS. I dont know about everyone here but I dont even have a life anymore. I gained 80 pounds from steroids just to live. I am still angry three years later that I was denied OWCP. I do get SSDI. They didnt argue with my phchychiatrist. I didn't have to go for any tests or anything to get it. He wrote that I was depresses from losing my job and anxiety over this illness from mold. I didn't even know SS sent you to doctors so I guess I got lucky in that way. I live in my house with air cleaners and wear a mask outside and am now allergic to everything. My allergist said its because the mold made my immune system go haywire. These articles come out and that is good. If I could warn ONE person about what has happened to me I would consider that a blessing. I lost my life, my other half and my job to mold. Guest guest
Some toxin exposure causes depression in that it prevents new brain cells from forming.. This is a current, well supported line of thinking I am pretty sure, in the neuroscience community.. Look up 'neurogenic theory of depression' on PubMed or Google.. Guest guest
I'm so sorry Janet, we are pretty much in the same boat. my mouth swells, tinles and teeth hurt, things like that but I don't know if it's from yeast.right now I'm can't eat anything hard and sometimes I just want to pull all my teeth out. it's hard to deal with.have you been diagnosed with allergic fungal sinusitis? I saw a picture of a ct scan that showes how the infection is also down in the gums and all around the mouth. thinking this is what I have but can't find a doctor that knows anything about it, just like I can't find one that knows anything about fungal lung infections and pheurel iffusion (liquid in the lineing of the lungs) which I'm pretty sure I have off and on. I was exposed to very high amounts of aspergillus and I can't even find a doctor to see if I have aspergillious. Dr. Croft felt that I probably do and I do too. maybe someday soon we will start getting doctors that well help us. hang in there. > > I have CFS as well as getting sick from toxic mold where I worked.
