Guest guest
Hi joanie, I have a major yeast problem and had it before the AP. I wouldn't get off the AP for a million bucks. The Diflucan takes a while to work. Don't forget the acidophilis and take more than is prescribed on the directions. I use nystatin liguid for the thrush and Terazol for the vaginal yeast. I read the book . The diet really helps. I also use a product by Metagenics that makes the lower bowl more friendly to the good " bugs " its called Probioplex Intensive care. I hope you are also on the Clindy. Thats what really made me see some improvements. Ask if you have any more questions about yeast. Guest guest
What symptoms did your daughter experience with leaky gut? I'm not trying to get too personal, I've just been wondering if I've been having the same problem and I'm wondering what to look for. Thanks, a rheumatic Re: yeast From: Adlard <cadlard@...> Dear Joanie, > I just wanted to bounce this off of you guys.I have had an ongoing > yeast problem.I asked my doctor if this problem in any way stands in the way > of me improving on the AP.He didn't seem to think so. He's wrong. It needs treating and will hamper the antibiotics. You probably have leaky gut along with the candida. Stay on the antibiotics and treat for these at the same time with herbals and diet. Diflucan is very toxic and is not the best approach. NO sugar (yeast feeds on sugar), tons of water, acidophilus every day. The candida can be treated by olive leaf, garlic, oil of oregano and the US product called Candida Plus which some of the group are on. Assume you have an element of leaky gut also and take something to heal the gut like slippery elm. Ethel mentioned a product called Permeability Factor which you can get there for this purpose. You'll find that treating for these will lead to more improvement on the antibiotics. My daughter has just been through the same exercise. She had no symptoms of candida but was showing some gut and absorption problems. All tests she had done proved negative. So in the end she decided to assume that the conditions were present and started slippery elm and olive leaf extract. She's now improving again. Most people who have been on steroids, contraceptive pills, long-term antibiotics or high-sugar diets need to be aware that these conditions are likely for them. Chris. Guest guest
Hi Is it called yeast, when it is in the toe nails? I have had an infected toe nail for years and have tried to get rid of it in various ways - nothing has helped. Does this also hamper with the antibiotics? I have not been able to get any medicin for it, because they all are too strong together with traditional medicin ( I use to take MTX before starting the AP, now I only take pred 2,5 mg to get me through) I don't have it anywhere else (I think). Guest guest
So, does anyone know if olive leaf is superior to pau d'arco? Equal? I just started pau d'arco for its antifungal, antimicrobial properties but would I be better off with the olive leaf? Almost wrote olive loaf LOL Thank you. Guest guest
I'm in Australia and we don't get Candida Plus here. I'm sure some of the group can help you. Dr. Franco prescribes Candida Plus. It would be used for the same purpose as the olive leaf, i.e. to kill off any candida, so you would need one or the other, not both. Slippery Elm is a separate product and one of several that can be used for leaky gut. Permeability Factor is used for leaky gut and I think comes from the same supplier as Candida Plus. Here we have a Blackmores Product called Digestive Aid which combines slippery elm with some other gut-healing and soothing ingredients which is what Janene is taking. There is some kind of ointment you can get from a foot Dr that will either help a whole lot or get rid of it. Guest guest
, I've heard applying tea tree oil works. Olive leaf extract or oil of oregano might also work well. Both are anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-bacterial. Ethel on wrote: > > From: " on " <saraheharrison@...> > > Hi > Is it called yeast, when it is in the toe nails? Guest guest
Since is not available, I'll respond to this one. I have known about Candida Plus for several years, but I have not pushed it because it is difficult for most people to obtain, and it's expensive - although it shouldn't be. Dr. Franco is using it for a patient with probably the worst case of systemic candida I've seen. We've nearly 'lost' her several times. None of the experts - Warren Levin, Orin Truss, etc. were able to help her. Physicians can order it by calling 1-800-229-3121 (in the states). There are 90 capsules to a bottle. Dosage is 1 capsule three times a day to start, along with 1 capsule of cascara sagrada twice a day. It is extremely important that the patient drink 2 to 3 quarts of water a day and have 2 to 3 good bowel movements each day. After two or three weeks the dosage is increased. When Janene was having her gut problem, went with the olive leaf extract and slippery elm because of the expense, and it appears to be working for her. For anyone interested in olive leaf extract, I recommend the book Olive Leaf Extract by Dr. Morton . It is about $6 and is available from amazon.com. One of the best resources for olive leaf extract is East Park Research, Inc. in Nevada. Information 1-702-433-9040 - Orders 1-800-345-8367. Cost is $29.95 for 60 capsules; $18.00 a bottle when bought by the case of 12. East Park will recommend dosage. Guest guest
Hi all. Leaky gut is believed by many alternate practioners to be a huge contributing factor to RA. Leaky gut refers to the idea that the gut is too permeable and food particles " escape " and get into the blood stream and act as antigens and the body produces antibodies v.s. them etc etc and the inflammation process starts. That is the purpose of eating special diets and taking acidopholus...to prevent this inflammatory process that starts in the gut. There are some good books to read about it, but they all share this basic theory, which I may have explained incorrectly to some degree but you get the idea. If anyone's interested I'll get back w/ more info when I feel better. I had an acute attack of bursitis in shoulder and emergency visit w/ rheumatologist and cortisone shots so I'm not up to typing lately. Guest guest
Psoriasis makes one's toenails look funny too...whitish and they lift up...and the white encroaches on the pink so it looks like the white is growing down to the base of the nail. It can happen to your fingernails too and as it's also an immune disorder I suggest that it's always a possibility to consider when you already have one immune problem (But I bet the AP would help then maybe!) Guest guest
Dear LInda, Lots of books talk about " leaky gut. " One I have now, from library is also about diet and is called:How To Eat Away Arthritis by Laurie Aesoph, N.D. You might start with that, it's easy, fun, and great for diet too. Also very upbeat and hopeful, which we all can use. Hope you can find it.in your library, too. You'll like it.
Guest guest
I have heard that you can take the acidopholous powder from the capsules, or crush a tablet, mix it with water and use that, it might be less messy than the yogurt. Haven't tried it yet so can't say if it works or not. The refrigerated kind would probably work best. LizG
Guest guest
Hi Donna, I was talking about using them as a douche or vaginal suppository, instead of yougurt. I should have been clearer but didn't want to make the guys blush <LOL> LizG
Guest guest
The capsules are used to keep the acidophillus contained until it reaches the more friendly part of the intestines where it is needed. Stomach acid will trash some of the bacteria. Guest guest
This can help. Antifungals are quite specific in the fungi/yeast they target, and we have found often need a change every 6 -8months Re: yeast So what do you do when yeast is a problem? Guest guest
So has anyone ever had the inside of their mouth swell from yeast?
Guest guest
Yes, it does. If you haven't already gotten an Rx for an antifungal, you'll get one, don't worry! Dr. G just doesn't like to start them at the same time. He is okay with probios, though. I wouldn't give GSE w/o speaking to him because you may get a nice " talking to " about it.
