Guest guest
I do have a question, however, for anyone who has had both a hip and a knee replacement. What was the main difference in immediate post-op and recovery between the two?Hmmmm. I think it was easier to get out of bed after the knee. I think it is easier to use a walker with the knee. I did not feel so out of balance after the knee. It must be because the weakness point of a hip is so close to the point of balance of the body? The Hip has so many restictions , I think the recovery is more difficult. The knee therapy was harder and more painful. With my hip I was 6 weeks no weight bearing, and it was very difficult to use the walker, go sore palms. Immediate post-op...about the same, get out of bed the next day, learn how to get around and up and down from bed. With the hip had to sleep on my back I am not a back sleeper, so that was unconfortable. Valeri
Guest guest
Well, you all know we moved. We looked and looked to find a " clean and mold free " home. We thought we did that. The house is very lovely. Well, 3 weeks ago I noticed a leak in my ceiling. I told the landlord about this 3 times and still no repairs...I am not blaming him because I don't think he remembers as he is pretty old. Last night I was waken many times grasping for air. I was not even taking in the air from my c-pap. I felt like a ballon as the c-pap pumped in air into my lungs. I ended up staying awake most of the night because I could not breath. I went to the doctor today and he said I was not exchanging air due to asthma. he told me to take my nebulizer and asthma meds 4 times a day instead of 3. Oh well, so the saga continues, I left a house in a bad neighborhood, that did not have mold..just bats...I moved to what appeared to be a clean house and now it starts again. Are there any truely mold free homes?? Do we have to put up with this until we die? I don't have money for a brand new home and I am told the new homes are worse for mold. It seems like there are no escapes! We looked and looked for months for a house that did not make me sick. There are no such things as healthy buildings, just sick ones, at least that is the way it appears! Oh well, I had to vent. My internet is all messed up. I am at the library so I may not respond if I get replies, if any for a day or so. I hope to have it fixed by tonight. I called my internet provider and they messed it up worse. But anyway, it is all about mold and it never stops!
Guest guest
Hi Patty, Don't worry a bit, it's the best thing for you and it isn't bad at all. I had manipulation done in my 3rd month and I went from about 110 degrees to a permanent 140 in one day. It doesn't hurt more than a mild sprain and lets face it, after the pain of a TKR, this will be NOTHING. You'll feel better and be well on your way to recovery afterwards. I went straight to therapy from the hospital and it wasn't bad. Maybe you'll be told to do the same thing. Best Regards, Alan in NJ > > Hi everyone! Guest guest
Hi Marguerite, Most doctors prefer to do it earlier because the more mature the scar tissue, the harder it is for them to break up. He's got his work cut out for himself, but it should feel the same to you afterwards. Either way, you'll be happy you did it. After living my entire life with knee pain, I can honestly say that I don't take pain medication at all for weeks at a time now. Normally a quick get-up and stroll around the office or room clears up any discomfort in fast order. Good Luck and keep the faith, ALan in NJ > > > > > > Hi everyone!
