Guest guest
Jackie. You should be able to get rid of the smell by getting a product at the pet store to get rid of cat urine, which is more pungent than dog urine I've been told, so be sure to go to the cat ailse. They have enzymatic cleaners and the enzymes in the cleaner break down and kind of 'eats up' anything biological like blood, urine, feces...at least that what it says, and it works. For such a large area you would probably need to wear some kind of respirator and protection and spray the enzymatic cleaner all over the attic. I think a paint sprayer would work. You don't need to wipe the enzymatic cleaner up. In fact you aren't supposed to, just spray it down and let it dry on it's own. There are people in phone book that capture animals but it would be cheaper to get a Hav-A-Heart cage from your local country animal control department (they might bring it out too) and put something in it like peanuts and catch him that way yourself and let him go somewhere far away from your house for now, but someplace where there are alot of trees for him to find food. If your animal control office doesn't have one or can't part with one, you can buy them at Home Depot and some farming supply places. Then get up in attic and find where he was coming in and put a screen over it. I've heard to put a screen mesh over all venting in attic. Something I have to do also. > > Jeff, > Are you the same Jeff who wrote a book?? Recently my family and I > had to move due to a prowler. Guest guest
Jackie, you may be able to put enzymatic cleaner down with simple hand sprayer instead if you can locate area he is using. He might be just using one or two areas. You can try to locate them with a blacklight. A pet store would have the blacklights for finding urine spots also. The large size ones best. The very small ones are tedious to use as they illuminate such a small area at a time that you really need to have a good idea of where stain is, perhaps by following your nose, then illuminating area with blacklight to see exactly where urine is. Also room must be somewhat dark. The darker it is, the better the stain shows up. Not sure if you can walk around in your attic in dim light, but that is another option. > > Jackie.
