For all of you that 'love your air cleaners'.. think for a moment..

wouldn't you (we!) all love it SO much more if

you DIDN'T NEED them?

*******I understand what you are saying, BUT even if I didn't need them for

health I would have them because I love the clean air I breath.....when people

visit me, they comment that the air is so clean that they think they are in

a bubble.....LOL

YESSSSSSSSS, it is maintenance free and unless you abuse the filter with

toxic paints and fumes you only have to replace the filter every 5 years....If

you would like to talk to let me know and I will send you both mine and

his telephone number....he does work for all the alternative docs here in

Arizona....very smart man....The docs send him into their patient homes to

sniff out toxins, molds, etc., etc., etc.....he also educates these patients on

what NOT to have under your cabinets....I have used him to refer him to many

business associates and patients....BTW....Austin is coming out with an

updated filter in March, so you might want to wait to get the " new " filter.

If

you do make sure you let Austin know that you want the NEW filter....let me

know if you want the telephone numbers....I have the BIG one in my

bedroom....my

condo is

1400 sq feet and it covers 1500 sq feet, but I keep it in my bedroom and

have a Hepa in my living room and office. I'm saving up for another

Austin....I

BELIEVE....LOL

I just looked at the Austin Air purifiers and the Jr. looks perfect for a

bedroom. The filter looks like it costs over $100. How often do you have to

change the filter?

Thanks,

Sue

I love the way my air purifier makes my home smell, but it surprises

me that it has a smell. I have an Austin with charcoal and zeolite

and it makes my home smell sweet. It must be the charcoal since I

bought an " I can breath activated charcoal mask " and has the same

sweet smell too and the only thing they both have is activated

charcoal. I googled 'charcoal and sweet' and came up with carbon

tetrachloride' is sweet but not activated charcoal. Does anyone

notice a sweet smell from activated charcoal? I thought it would be

odorless. It either smells sweet to everyone or perhaps I am

developing some sort of heightened sense of smell.

That's great news to hear!!! I was worried that you might say they needed to

be changed every 3 months or so!!! I think I'll look into the Jr. size.

Thanks for the info.

I bought new filter when I moved air cleaner from my moldy home to my

new apartment. It has a metal case that is enameled so I think it can

be cleaned better than one with plastic housing. Many here have

discussed that plastic *might be harder to clean of toxins than

metal. There is a prefilter which is similar to common furnace filter

that runs around 16.00 and helps to keep hepa filters clean of larger

particles and can be vacuumed or changed.
