Guest guest
I just had my 5th set of injections of Xolair which is made by Genentech. Getting approval from my Health insurance company required about a hundred phone calls. After the first 3 injections, I even felt worse. At least I thought I did. It would make sense for it to make you feel worse at first because the xolair has to work on old reactions and clear them first. For some reason about 2 years ago I developed severe asthma (after living in my hundred year old house and a leak in the ac) unrelieved by much of anything--albuterol, cortef, flonase, flovent, benadryl, etc. I saw doctors at the Mayo Clinic earlier this year and asked if xolair would help and they said no. HOw WRONG! After my 5th injection today, I rested some but was able to walk a half mile without chest tightness and my lungs felt as if they were working in tandem. Previously, I have felt as if there were rocks inside of my lungs and severe tightness. It has left me very weak indeed. To qualify for xolair, your ige has to be above 30 to 35 and you also have to test allergic to at least one of the following: dust mite, penicillium, aspergillus, cat or dog. You also have to have uncontrolled asthma. I have no interest in Genentech and have been a member for awhile now but am usually too sick to post. I would like to know if anyone else on this board has used xolair. Jane Ann
