Guest guest
Question for the group, Other than price has anyone noticed much difference between the brand (Questran) and the generic cholestyramine? Also, it seems that at least here in Los Angeles it has become impossible to obtain the Questran powder in the can. All the pharmacies relay that this is due to a back up in the warehouses. This would periodically occur though now seems to be an ongoing problem that has affected all the pharmacies. Have people here been ordering directly through the warehouse or other means? I wonder if this is now a supply and demand problem.....
Guest guest
I had trouble with generic but never tried the brand name so can't say but can't get CSM at all now since Dr Shoe won't Rx if he hasn't seen patient within last six months and I cannot afford " energy wise " to make that trip more often. Once a year was doable, so I will have to see if I can find someone else because I do want to keep taking it even at the small doses I was using. > > Question for the group, > > Other than price has anyone noticed much difference between the brand > (Questran) and the generic cholestyramine? > > Also, it seems that at least here in Los Angeles it has become impossible to > obtain the Questran powder in the can. Guest guest
I have been taking CSM (Eon Labs) in the can for 3 yrs. but just recently switched to CSM Light(2x a day) in the small single packages also Eon Labs. It's all I've ever taken and it works for me. A few times over the years the pharmacy has been short a few cans but I now have auto refills (Target) and they just call when my Rx is in. Guest guest
I hope you are able to find another physician close by that is willing to work with you on this. Guest guest
My family has used Questran, Eon generic and Par Pharmaceuticals generic, which I believe is manufactured by the same company as the Questran. My daughter and I started with Questran at the time we were the sickest. We then " moved on " to the Eon. My whole family disliked this one. It seemed to have lots of sorbitol and upset our stomachs. The Par generic is the one we use now and it seems fine to us. Hope this helps. - > > Question for the group, > > Other than price has anyone noticed much difference between the brand > (Questran) and the generic cholestyramine? Guest guest
Thank you, this does help since our experience seems to be identical. Will stick to the generic from Par.
