Hannah has large tonsils and adnoids we kept putting off the surgery since she

seemed to be getting better.. then more rounds of infected sinuses and throat

with an occasional croup still come back so we are now giong to schedule for

after Christmas. my concern was not to have the surgery then sent home.. so I

asked then DEMANDED she stay at least over night! you can demand they stay over

night with or without insurance! do not let them tell you different stand your

ground! hope this helped. ~Holly~ mom to Blakely 14 ADHD and Hannah MDS

Adenoid surgery

Hi All,

We just had an appt with the ENT and he recommended having Mark's

adenoids removed if the X-Ray results showed that they were as large

as a suspected. I don't have a problem with this, but what I am

concerned about is that he says it will be day surgery. Has anyone's

else's kids had just their adenoids taken out? And if so, was it day

surgery or did they stay overnight?

Thanks!

We had 's adenoids taken out as outpatient and all went well. It helped

her health tremendously to be rid of the infected adenoids. I hope all goes

well.

Hi Gwyn

Adnoid surgery is not painful and should be just a standard proceedure for

Mark. Most people never stay overnight any more for anything. (love those

insurance providers)

But, really Mark shouldn't feel any pain with the adnoids removed. It is the

tonsils that cause all the pain.

The trouble you could have is the anestesia. Some kids with MDS have trouble

waking up fully after anestesia like other people do. So, talk about anestesia

before you do this.
