Guest guest
I saw the entire show. Also taped it so I could let my daughter (who teaches) watch it later. The Hellers' book is called the Carbohydrate Addicts Lifespan Program. (Their names are and ). My doctor has always maintained that carbs, protein and fat eaten at a meal will keep your bgs from spiking or dropping. My problem, when eating carbs, was at breakfast...A bowl of oatbran....coffee...nothing more. I used sweeetener. This breakfast was all carb and set the pace for the remainder of the day. I would starve! The problem was the insulin....which the Hellers maintain is the problem for an addict! I am insulin resistant and must inject, ergo, I have so much insulin floating in my system that there is no way I can stall off the hunger and the storage of fat. Insulin is a growth hormone (they said hunger and fat storing) Well, it is certainly true in my case! I kept eating carbs and adding insulin to cover them, which in turn, put more weight on me! If I could figure a way to use my own insulin, I believe I could take off the weight that I gained on beginning insulin! At any rate, I have lowered my need for insulin quite a bit since cutting the carbs. One key to the being able to eat carbs with that 1 hour is starting the meal with salad, then progressing, eating in proportion, carb, veggie and meat. Then dessert (but it must be substituted for part of the carb, so that total....it must be 1/3 meat, 1/3 carb, 1/3 veggie.....No calorie counting or measuring portions. No eating low fat products. Everytime they remove fat, they add in sugar. Sugar goes right to fat. I don't know for sure what this does for a diabetic, especially those of us who injectinsulin (T2s, that is) It seems that we don't have a chance. I would like to consult with the Hellers to see if they have an answer. *hugs* Toni Heller wrote: > > > Hi, > > I saw most of it also.
