Guest guest
Hi, I haven't posted for a long time, and I need a review of some mold info. 1st, I've had ME for over 20 years, MCS, Neuro/CNS complications, Cardiomyopathy (Diastolic Heart Dysfunction, now being found in ME/CFS patients by Dr.s Peckerman and Dr. Cheney.) Have Ciguatera Toxin Epitope in blood, Lactate spikes in brain, (This indicates mitochondria malfunction, and found in high percent of PWCMEs tested), " right hemisphere impairment " on neuro-psych test. *Maybe* mercury issues. (meaning, plenty of reason to feel ill, toxic, brain impaired, besides mold). Due to a friend's mold illness long ago, I practiced Mold Avoidance for many years, before and since the rest of my DX. HOWEVER, since mold's increasing everywhere, this has become more difficult. AND, I am stuck in Low Income Housing and getting scared about my apartment. It was new when I moved in 14 years ago. I *think* there was a leak early on and bathroom wall may have been taken apart to fix it. Other sub standard construction has been revealed and the buildings still look good but are deteriorating. Meaning balconies are rotting, for instance. I asked someone building a new one if he found mold and he said no. That's hard to understand. There also are problems with the way the corners of the building got put together. Mgr told me this would allow moisture into walls. Outside, there is mold many places...the concrete, porch and outdoor furniture, the sidewalk, the bannister of the stairs to apt above me. Alot of dirt, trees, leaves around bldg. Inside, I see just a little mold around bathtub and it gets on any shower curtain. YEars ago, some got on bedroom window sill, but does not seem to return. My problem is I think I SMELL it here...inside and outside. And feeling sicker. Could be relapse or progression of the other known conditions. I suspect mold is causing/contributing to this phase. Includes extra brain toxic feeling, depression not felt for years, and worse CNS sx. Have never felt ill from outdoor air, but wondering here/now.. Question is...how can I measure mold presence? Even at basic, overall invisible level, and then which kind? Please don't " diagnose me " as having mold illness from the beginning. That will not be helpful, no matter your experience. This will distract me and P... me off. I DO have concerns about it here and now, and need to know how to assess this environment. (And know that all these conditions interact synergistically, once any have struck). I think I recall the dishes you can send for to measure aren't helpful? IS there any simple measuring I can do myself? Is there a basis you know of for asking management for professional assessment? Management co/ is in process of finding 4 Million dollars for Complex's repair needs. There is maybe some HUD connection, and I wonder if that gives me any legal standing for testing. I know you can tear out walls and carpets to check. But is there a way to check otherwise...the air? What, if anything does the outdoor mold indicate? Would it be the same as indoors? Are some sickened by outdoor mold that is not indoors? Does it automatically get indoors? What can you do about outdoor mold? (I can't close windows due to MCS). Also, sorry, I forgot...what is current opinion on air cleaner, or others to clear mold? And, just for good measure, have you guys come to any consensus for best laundry method of mold removal? I remember several methods discussed before. Assume discarding the kit and kaboodle are preferred method. I definitely now have old furniture, old carpet, etc. Trying to address that. Don't know about the rest...books, etc. Wishing for the strength, energy and discipline to lesson the load. What things can be placed around home while I figure this out ie: tea tree oil? Lavender, or other? Zeolite, or ?? Hope you don't mind all of the questions. I realise jury may not be out on some, but any feedback on these matters appreciated. Can not leave at this time...must identify what's happening here, then proceed with a plan. Thanks, Katrina
Guest guest
Only speaking from my own experience, yes, I have several times gotten sick from outdoor exposures where something I breath in causes reacuring lung infection, with and without sinus infection and other infections in my body. > > > Hi, > > I haven't posted for a long time, and I need a review of some mold info. > > 1st, I've had ME for over 20 years, MCS, Neuro/CNS complications, Cardiomyopathy (Diastolic Heart Dysfunction, now being found in ME/CFS patients by Dr.s Peckerman and Dr. Cheney.)
