Guest guest
, Regarding hyperbarics: I initially was interested in trying oxygen therapy of some kind because I read that experiments showed improvements for migraine sufferers and I had frequent and severe migraines. I could not find a doctor to try oxygen treatment for my migraines though. Sigh - doctors! At the time I didn't know I had a hyperbaric center here where I live. So one reason is for migraine treatment and at first I just went to break a 'migraine streak' (daily migraines), which worked wonderfully. I also have read good for lead exposure of which I had also working on workwood in old house I own/old moldy house. A friend read that it is recommended treatment for vasculitis which I was diagnosed with last summer by Dr Rae and apparently due to mold exposure, so all those reasons. Surprisingly, the thing it has helped me the most is something that has been my only health problem since I was 32 and before mold exposure..severe insomnia which started after a traumatic event in my life and never lifted with any treatment. I have taken a bedtime medicine for more than 20 years and after hyperbaric treatments, I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow, before I can even reach for the medicine. Unfortunately, I still wake up after 4-5 hours but started to improve in length before I moved into this noisey apartment. It also clears up my blurry vision and lifts many other symptoms. As far as how long it lasts. The more I take it, the longer lasting the effects. Whether I would ever get to the point where I could stop and symptoms would not come back, I don't know. I must add though that **more** is not always better I have discovered. I decided to try hyperbarics every day to see what effect that would have and after only 4 or 5 days of one hour treatments I experienced vertigo and nausea. That meant I was into hyperoxia- experiencing toxic levels of oxygen already. Too much oxygen is more dangerous in short run than too little as it can do permanent damage to organs so this isn't as easy as it seems it would be. If I hadn't recognized the symptoms and took more treatments, possible to have seizures. It wasn't while I was in hyperbaric treatment. It was after I was out and about afterwards. I didn't know it was due to hyperbarics. The technicians nor doctor there told me what symptoms to look for of getting too much oxygen so as with everything else, you have to read up on this yourself and know what symptoms to look for. Hyeroxia is really more damaging than hypo since it can do permanent organ damage, particularly to lungs quickly. Hypo does damage but it takes a very long time, of course unless it is very hypo..suffocation for example. Turns out your body tolerates a narrow range of oxygen so that more is not necessarily good thing. The pressure may not be good for certain type of heart conditions mostly as it makes it harder for heart to beat and of course it can damage inner ear if you aren't careful. I'm considering looking into mHBOT (mild or soft chamber hyperbarics), and would still just like to try plain old oxygen treatment with mask at night before I go to bed for sleep and migraine protection without any pressure. Regarding sleep help. I looked up hypoxia, low oxygen, and found inability to sleep as a side effect, so correcting that might help. Vasculitis cuts down on oxygen going to organs so probably am hypoxemic. It's very complicated subject actually. I'm lucky here I have a hyperbaric clinic so I can experiment. > > >> I am curious though, how long you feel well after hyperbaric and do > you take any medications while doing that?
