Guest guest
Besides mold and abestos at my previous employer(man that feels good to say now!!!), the girl that was in the lobby with me would put on hand lotions and make me very sick. My eyes would burn even more ETC. and I told her over and over and over and over again. Do you think she ever got it? NO! Her comment was " I only put a little bit on " . Well geez, is that why everyone that walks in the room makes a comment about they smell something????Duh!!! She would stop or use something that didn't affect me for a while then there she went again. I put hand lotions on but who wants knock you down perfumed lotion on your hands! Well, same girl now says thru emails that she sure hopes the mold isn't affected her. She already failed the VCS test, has the " tingling " as she calls it where I call in hard core pins/needles pricking me like MAD and mentions itching has high cholestrol readings but had a catherization and No problems(I read somewhere it can cause high reading tho not true but I'm not sure that is true or not), called 911 twice due to some bizarre intestional pain that she thought she was dying, has chest pain where she thought she's having a heart attack and says she gets dizzy and her memory isn't too good as she says it and can't think of what else right now. Don't you think it sounds like she being affected??Duh! She is in denial and been there over 15 years, me 25+ before getting out. Had a boss that said " Something is making me Dizzy " and he also is genetically prone for Alzheimers... My sis gave me some clothes of hers and I can't get the stinking GAIN detergent out of them. I washed in borax, vinegar more than once and tried wearing some and had to get them off of me quick. You can't wash that fragerance out when they have washed their clothes over and over daily in perfume. Their noses get so desensitized they can't even smell their detergent or same with people with spraying on perfumes. That is why they put more and more on. I told my family that Gain Stinks and so strong but They Just Love the Stuff! I told my sis that wears perfume that she doesn't even realize that Strong Gain is clashing with all the perfumed body lotion and perfumes she puts all over her daily. A wet kitchen hand towel washed in gain is so gross to me and I know this from my mom using Gain when I have smelled it. My mom also is a Plug-in Queen and my other sis said she can Taste the plugin fragerance after leaving my mom's house. Now that is gross. Can't convince my mom tho that they aren't good to be breathing so I have to breathe them when over there. I have noticed myself after not putting things on I wore daily that I can smell things I didn't before like just the foundation makeup I wear which isn't that strong but before I didn't smell it b/c I wore the same kind daily for over 20+ years and now haven't. Also, getting away from mycotoxns daily ETC. is probably helping my nose too. Guest guest
Rhonda, I had to laugh when you said your co-workers response to the hand lotion was 'but I only put alittle on'... man, I hear that all the time here at work. Also, I hear 'but I/they sit the next isle over, you can smell that?'.... well duh, that's the whole idea of the perfume scented hand lotion, isn't it? I have a severe reaction to perfumes, it triggers an asthma attack almost instantly and my throat swells shut and I can't breathe. Even if I don't have the asthma attack, my throat tries to close and the spasming muscles hurt. The company nurse tells me to 'just leave the building, go for a walk and come back'... fine and dandy, but once the ripple effect starts, you can't stop it (throat swelling shut & asthma attack). I tried to explain it to them like this... If you burn your hand on the stove, your hand is going to hurt for several days afterwards, even though you removed your hand instantly. That's how the side- effects are of the asthma attack from perfume. The inhalers give me heartburn for 2 days afterwards, and I'm flat EXHAUSTED for a few days too after an attack. One lady at work informed me that I was triggering the attacks myself because I " m a (get this) unhappy person! What amazes me, her son had asthma growing up, makes me wonder just how well she cared for him when he had his attacks (and this comment came from a woman that I've worked w/for 9 yrs & I've never seen her smile!). I love life, I try to get two days out of one. I'm always outside w/my dogs or horses, gardening, fishing, you name it, I'm there. I can get more done in 1/2 a day than some people can in a week. But perfume stops me dead in my tracks. Cleaning agents and gas/diesel fumes get me too if I'm not careful. I can understand the asthma better than I can the mean people who's response, to my face is, 'it's my right to wear perfume'. I wish employers would stand up and not allow their workers to come to work wearing too much perfume, and I wish they would ban scented hand lotions at work. We're at work to be team players and to provide the best service to our employers, and how can we do that when co- workers are allowed to disrupt the work environment? And yes, I know EXACTLY what you mean about being able to 'taste' fragrances. This will sound weird, but sometimes that smell seems to get stuck in your nose. When I was diagnosed w/asthma and we figured out what was causing it, it all came back to work and the perfume. I developed that at work. On Mondays, you seldom hear co-workers coughing or sneezing. By Tues or Wed, more people are coughing and sneezing. One allergist told me our office might be a sick building. I work at a place where if you ask questions, you're labeled a trouble maker, so people just stay quiet. I too will be glad when I can refer to my job as the 'place that I used to work'... however, people really need to be informed about the reaction that perfumes and colonge can cause people around them. I wish Oprah or Dr Phil would do a show on this. I probably shouldn't even go into the mold situation here at work.... when it rains, I don't hear it, rather I can always smell something weird, not rain, not mold, maybe a combination of both (I sit on the top floor). Our roof leaks something awful, not uncommon to see trash cans or trash barrels collecting the dripping water, which is coming from the ceiling (sometimes through the tiles, sometimes those have already fallen). Two summers ago they replaced the roof and the ceiling vibrated so bad all this crap was falling down on us. You would NOT believe me if I explained to you the amount of debris that fell, coming from the ceiling tiles and some of it looked like dark grey insulation, probably from the tiles. This went on for 2 wks. The stupid company nurse told us the month after that she had no idea that was going on. We have 1,000 employees that work here in this home office & no one told her? I didn't bother because I've gone round and round w/her about the perfumes and she's one of them that told me I just need to quit and stay home (I'm only 38, seems alittle early for me to quit living, she's also just a paper-pushing band-aid nurse). I wore a mask and when they did our area, I left, took sick leave & went home. No way was I going to have that stuff in my hair and down my shirt, in my eyes, ears, etc. I was amazed at how a majority of the people stayed here. It really was bad, I don't need to exagerate it. Our desks were a mess w/this stuff and the dust and grit and chunks of this was everywhere. The roof STILL leaks, trash cans still catch the water and they have plastic sheets hanging from the ceiling to funnel the water into those big grey commercial like trash cans on wheels. I did mention I work at an insurance company, right? A few years ago, we went from unlimited sick leave to 5 days for the year. I know this building is not healthy, and then add the ones that marinade in perfume. I know I'm going to feel so much better once I don't have to go into work at this place, I know my coughing will stop and I'll have so much more energy and I can quit taking all the allegra and allergy shots. You know, some of those bullies from grade school never grew up... now we call them co-workers.... > > Besides mold and abestos at my previous employer(man that feels good to > say now!!!), the girl that was in the lobby with me would put on hand > lotions and make me very sick. Guest guest
We had a continuous roof leak also the 25+ years I was there. It was common to have trash cans for water leaking and wet vacs to suck up water and them trying to dry out thouse " precious records " they thought they were preserving for history but I hear they have MOLD and other things growing on them and bugs living in the boxes. Had pipes burst too many times over the years too and water running thru 7+ floors thru the ceilings and down the stairs. I can say I have not been able to relax yet b/c still waiting for paycheck and also now have to fillout more paperwork for mortgage b/c it is based on what my yearly earnings are. I have had to do so much work for 2 years straight and if I didn't, would not be as far as I am today but I need a long break. I do not know how I haven't collapsed yet. At least getting out of that toxic work place is helping and I can sleep but still have things I have to get done by a certain time frame. Well, I became the Trouble Maker they WON'T forget at my workplace and I raised Holy Terror until they at least acknowledged the place had MOLD and Abestos. Other people are being affected there but they aren't extroverted like me and I don't care what anybody thinks about what I have to say when I know something is affecting my health and they know that now. I'm sure they are glad to get me out of their hair but I at least made others aware of what they are breathing and IT can and will affect their health. I'm surprised I do not have asthma or other pulmonary problems but over the years I have had my lungs Burns. I can say that I heard a lot of women blowing their noses in the restroom at the workplace and heard others say Rhonda isn't the only one being affected. I'm just the one that has the Mouth to spread the Word!! You will feel better when you can Say your Previous Employer.....I can say I hate that place and declined a Retirement luncheon also and told them I'd never walk in that building again!! And the Human Resources guy thinks I'm a RARE case..NOT and he said he has MOLD under his house and who knows where else. What Goes Around Comes Around......I bet I at least have them thinking now....if they can even do that with what they are breathing.... And for those of you that haven't read post on my workplace and beside me, the building beside where I worked has has so many deaths the statistic are so high and not over 50yr people. Cancer, Brain Tumors, heart attacks/strokes and the list goes on and in my building also many cancers and others I lost track of but one women that worked upstairs that went way downhill and wondered what was up there years back b/c she knew she went downhill up there went blind, got rheumatoid arthritis so bad her hands curled up and is an assistant living home now, sinus cancer, and other cancers, strokes and who knows what else. The ones that got out early, probably did better. And most of all people that worked there developed chronic sinus problems and/or respiratory problems. The place is never cleaned either, Really....trashcans dumped and missed some days... Guest guest
You wouldn't know if you had a lot of lung problems necessarily now. If they had asbestos, as I understand it, asbestos exposure causes fibrosis in the lungs which causes them to become diseased over many years. As you age there is a reaction, the Schiff reaction, that causes your 'meat' as it were to become increasingly 'cooked' (literally) and this creates chemical bonds (Advanced Glycation Endproducts) that reduce the elasticity of all your various parts causing a host of problems associated with aging. Mold toxins and other toxins work through a variety of different ways to accelerate the aging process as I see it. (Many of these processes visible signs are what we see as aging..) For example, the Schiff reaction also increases the systemic inflammation level in your body so that any additional inflammation is more likely to push you over the edge, health wise. Thats why older people can be infected and not run a fever. Their bodies are already used to high levels of inflammation just because they are old. This is also why our system is failing to understand the destructive side of mold illness because we don't recognize that toxins can accelerate aging simply by killing cells and creating free radicals that must be quenched using up metabolic energy. When you age and eventually die, what kills you is often not one specific thing but it is the cumulative effect of all these different insults which up to a point, your body has been compensationg for. Ultimately, it can't any longer and then you die.
