I read something recently about high progesterone and sodium going hand in hand. High progesterone levels can cause insulin resistance, which makes weight loss difficult, and in some people also increases the production of aldosterone, which encourages sodium retention and swelling, especially in the stomach area. Does this ring true for you? I know that my sodium levels have been creeping up since I became ill 2 years ago. The reason behind my high progesterone levels is mercury leaking from my fillings, which inhibits the activity of 21a hydroxylase (an adrenal enzyme) which lowers cortisol and raises progesterone levels. So mercury is behind my high progesterone, low cortisol, high sodium, and insulin resistance in the second half of my cycle. The bits of the jigsaw are falling into place. I have now had my mercury fillings removed, and hope (big fingers crossed) that my hormones and cortisol will balance themselves out again. Hmmmmmmmmmm Nicola, this is extremely interesting. Too brain-dead to attempt a response now buy will do asap. thanks Nicola. thinking outside the box!
