Wow, I wish I had found this group about 4 yrs ago when I was

diagnosed w/asthma, which is triggered by prefume! My employer was

a royal pain in the @#!. They told me I would just have to quit my

job (I've been there 10 yrs next month) because they weren't going

to tell my immediate co-workers that they couldn't marinade in

perfume. My right to breathe was a joke to them. I still struggle

at work, and have to wear a mask most of the time, which I get alot

of flack about. My company won't take a stand and even educate other

co-workers. It's treated all hush, hush & I was told my the company

nurse to NOT talk to anyone at work about it. I've learned quite a

bit about my rights as an asthmatic, but they still treat me like I

have 3 eyes on my forehead. I'm blackballed in the company too,

can't go up, can't go down & I have the highest productivity rate

for anyone in my Department. I wish more people were educated about

perfumes and what they can do to people. It has drastically changed

my life. The most biggest joke of advice that I was given, other

than " quit your job and stay home " (yeah, explain that to the bank

when my mgt payment is due)was someone telling me to get rid of my

dogs... funny, my dogs don't wear perfume...!!! My company told me

about 4-5 mos ago that my rights as an asthmatic would not save/help

me if I took them to court, I had to grounds to use the disability

act. The only trouble I have at work is when co-workers put on the

bath and body hand lotion, or wear a 1/2 bottle of perfume, and the

company allows this to go on. Funny, we can't wear sneakers, it's

against the dress code, but it's ok to wear something toxic that

COULD kill your co-worker. Oh, did I mention that I work for an

Insurance Company in their main headquaters?.... Glad you guys have

this group. Hopefully it will be nice to share ideas and things

that work. I've had to struggle through this alone, by trial and

error and alot of frustration! I wish the perfume/colonge

manufacturers had to put a label of warning on their bottles!
