A young family is breathing easier now that they are living in a

mold free apartment.

and tell News 4 that their East side apartment

was infested with mold after heavy rains in December.

says he complained to apartment managers but they did

little to fix the problem.

says, " All they did was come in, spray it, and wipe and then

said, " See ya.' "

says that he battled with management at the Springhill

Apartments for two months.

His 8-month-old daughter broke out in a rash and was constantly

sick. thinks the mold was to blame.

" Outside the house she's fine. She goes to grandma's house and comes

home and she's completely fine, " says.

claims the mold was so bad he had to throw away

thousands of dollars worth of rugs, clothing, and electronics.

" We had to wear gloves and a mask to touch it, " he said.

Just this week, apartment managers moved the s to a new, mold

free, apartment.

The baby's rash is going away and the family finally feels they're

getting somewhere. But says he had to pay $500 to move to the

clean apartment.

Now management says it will reimburse the s that money and

also look into their property loss claim.

tells News 4 that the company didn't seem to be reacting very

quickly to fix the problems until we started digging into the story.

" They were going at a snail's pace, " he said. " Now, they know it's

going to be seen all over. They know they screwed up and they're

trying to cover their tracks. "

Twenty-four hours after moving into their new, mold free, apartment,

the s say their daughter's rash is already clearing up and

she's feeling much better.
