Guest guest
Thank youQuack for reminding me I can get better. I needed to hear that just now. I've been in a horrendous funk. So depressed, feeling like a bag lady. Just got off the phone with my shrink. They say i'm unmasking and i find it hard to believe. I think i'm getting worse. But, I have to try and believe those who walked the walk and my doctor. I could only get a gas dryer and now my clothing gives me that " vice-like " headache. When does unmasking normally ease?? I MUST get better. I REFUSE to stay sick. I'm in the unmoldy apt. about 4 weeks now, I should be all better, right?? lol Thanks for listening, i guess i needed to vent. Take Care, that means you too bunny! Felice ps really, tho, when might " unmasking " ease? thx again
Guest guest
your shrink said you were unmasking? for me, it was when I not only got in a place free of mold, but that did help a lot by calming down all my reactions so I wasn't in a constant reactive like state. I then once again washed all my belongings with ammonia and water, (laundry and wipeing down objects) and as the advoidance help all my symptoms it also help me reconize things that I had reactions to, so I than removed them. one of the first ones that became obvious was peoples perfumes and I realized all scented things had to go. I hate to tell you but if that dryer gets to you like that, I wouldn't use it. do your cloths smell bother you like that? ALL free and clear is the only laundry detergent I can use and no dryer sheets. I still sometimes just wash them in ammonia and water as it seems to clean them better than anything esle, blankets too. > > Thank youQuack for reminding me I can get better. Guest guest
I would have to agree w/who. Just being in a mold free environment does not calm your reactions down. Most after being exposed have some sort of MCS. So you need to lighten your chemical load. Then you will start feel better. Things like shampoo, soap, hairspray, make up, dish soap, hand lotion, bleach, markers, deodorant, nail polish, fabric softener, you get the picture. We couldn't figure out for a couple of years why my daughter was soooo sick. I mean geez we lived in a mold free home, ran air cleaners, I dusted everyday, washed floors everyday, vacuumed everyday, washed beds every couple day people thought I was crazy for cleaning all the time. But, I just knew if it was clean she'd get well. But, it didn't work. Then some here told me about MCS, and how to lighten her load. It was hard work, but well worth it. I could see a difference in her w/in 4 days. Then after 1 month and no visits to the " ER " I knew we had hit pay dirt. It is 1 year this month, no hospitals. As long as we keep our home chemically clean and mold free, watch the things she eats that she reacts too, she lives a pretty normal life. But, put her in an environment w/ any amounts of mold, or chemicals her body doesn't like for a few hours she is deathly ill again. We have now been able to narrow down what many of the things are she re-acts to. Some we are still learning about, she has to take a hit before we know. But, she still has to learn too that she must be more careful. She has been being chemically hit for the past month and became very ill again. But, it took days of questioning to figure out what it was at school that was making her sick. So, now she'll have to wait a few weeks to recover again. But, now she knows those things are no good for her. We have had to re-arrange her schedule to avoid those areas now, which didn't seem to be a problem in the past. But, because she was re-active to everything, things we didn't think she was reactive to, are now becoming visible as she starts to heal. We are all still learning. If you think your dryer is making you sick like " who " suggests don't use it. Or, think about what chemicals you are putting in your laundry. You may be re-acting to that. " Who " is right again. hehehe All Free and Clear is all we use. Many w/MCS use it w/out any problems. For me though we can't use ammonia in our house, all of us have a reaction to that. So, it is different for everyone. You will feel better soon. You just have to learn about all this stuff and how to make yourself feel better. It is hard, confusing, mind boggling, exhausting, but in the long run well worth it. Plus, you have us to help. Guest guest
The dryer might be bothering her if she use to use dryer sheets. My inlaws use the dryer sheets and I usually had to wipe out the dryer with a little vinegar on a cloth or my cloths would have the fragrance odor. One time my mother in law washed a pair of my husbands pants and we had to put them in a bag and keep them away until I could rewash them. Even after being in the bag for several weeks the pants were still very strong with fragrance. I don't know how I lived with all that fragrance in my life before. > > > > Thank youQuack for reminding me I can get better. I needed to hear > that > > just now. > > I've been in a horrendous funk. Guest guest
Hi Felice, I did have some intensification after my move, that I attributed that to the new cabinets off-gassing, etc., but it could well be what you're doctor is referring to as " unmasking " . Do you have any HEPA filters running in your new place? I have one in every room and still need to get one that handles VOCs, which does seem to be what now hits me the hardest. Are the clothes you're reacting to new clothes or are they clothes from your old home that you washed? I had to buy all new clothes. I have some things I wanted to salvaged in plastic bags in the garage and once I'm doing significantly better I'll trying soaking and washing those. As others have mentioned, I can only use unscented detergents - Cheer Free works for us as I can't tolerate any liquid detergents even if they're " free " - something in those gives me a rash. I tried soaking and then extensive washing for some of my kid's clothes that they would not part with and I was reacting to those big time just after the move. However, my reactions have calmed down quite a bit - it's been about 3 months now since I moved. Also, are you taking the CSM? I still take 2 doses/day as I think there are still alot of lingering toxins in my body. The holistic doctor I go to says that for folks recovering, it often takes a month for each year that you have been sick. I had been extremely sick for almost 4 years (since Lyme) and less sick (but still impacted) for 25 years. So, I think it will be at least 2 years before I might expect to feel normal again. Although, I honestly don't think I know what " normal " is, but I do have some good days that are really great now. And, after 3 months, I am doing signficantly better, especially with regards to having energy that lasts longer throughout the day (i.e., I can now go on an outing with my kids and return home and fix dinner and not feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck by 7pm at nite). Hang in there...it will get better. B. > > Thank youQuack for reminding me I can get better. I needed to hear that > just now. > I've been in a horrendous funk. Guest guest
Jeanine, I still get sick all the time too. Getting better is a relative thing.. I just try to deal with it day by day... I do feel as if I have been feeling better recently but I have also notice that when I get slammed it is fast and hard and it hurts - maybe not quite as much as it used to but its is still bad. Sometimes I just need to pull the shades turn off the lights and close my eyes and wait for it to go away.. The relative amount of exposure seems to be the thing that triggers the symptoms that I notice - they seem driven by changes in exposure.. I think that when you are sick at a certain level you have a background level of inflammation that makes you just 'sick' and so you don't notice where that inflammation might be coming from in your body. When you get a little bit better than you might have been in your recent past, by getting out of the mold and taking cholestyramine, your background level falls and so you can feel where you hurt and when you get any new exposure that kicks your inflammation level back up. I feel it acutely. For example, I HAD been feeling a little bit better (notice the optimism in my posts?) the last few days but then I started feeling sick again today. I have some ideas of why.. feeling courageous, I was trying to do some work with my old stuff.. Not long after later I started getting really ill.. just that few minutes made me get sick.. first my skin started feeling hot, and now I have a splitting headache, my eyes hurt, my lungs hurt, my ears are ringing and I feel queasy.. I have taken cholestyramine twice today and I am a mess.
Guest guest
Dr. Kaye Kilburn says that seven out of eight people with mold related neuro issues continue to get worse after they move for some time. Some people get markedly better after a time of getting worse, some don't. What gets better and what doesn't is clearly something that scientists are very much trying to figure out and at best, that is difficult in such a polarized political atmosphere. People should read his papers on this. He's the doctor who has done the most work with mold victims in trying to assess what kinds of things have happened on a neurological / statistical basis. He also has a unique perspective on these kinds of injuries from his many years of work with hundreds of patients with mold neuro issues as well as thousands, I'm sure, patients who have been exposed to other neurotoxins. That makes his thoughts on these things particularly valuable. He also clearly cares a lot about his patients and by extension all of us and their/our outcomes. Guest guest
I wonder if this isn't due to immune system getting stronger and fighting the illness better after moving, thus releasing more mycotoxins into system, and that making you feel worse after you move. I developed a terrible rash when I first moved out of house and had not started any new supplements so it was the first time I rashed without any reasonable cause I could identify. Rash was where blood came close to surface of skin and lasted a long time. After a couple of months at hotel, I began to feel much better, very good appetite, slept much better, had more energy that other people noticed. This is a picture of rash I had after I first moved...right where a main vein runs closest to skin surface. It last almost a month: <http://s145.photobucket.com/albums/r216/barb1283/? action=view & current=October2306034.jpg> Some scarring to left of that is due to constant itchy skin I used to have in house. --- In , LiveSimply <quackadillian@...> wrote: > > Dr. Kaye Kilburn says that seven out of eight people with mold related neuro > issues continue to get worse after they move for some time. >
