Guest guest
Dear Friends, There are a number of us who have been made ill by mold exposure who are working to find scientific agencies and governmental groups to help us gain recognition for our plight. If you know of any agency that might be helpful to all of us, please let me know. Mulvey son and Sharon Kramer are currently in Washington working with Ted Kennedy on a proposal for an investigation within the Government Accountability Office into the state of medicine related to toxic mold. As you may know, the ACOEM (American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine) came out with a report a number of years ago that basically said that molds, toxic or otherwise, were not the causative agents of anything besides simple allergic reactions. The CDC basically came out and said the same thing. However, just this year, the Wall Street Journal published Court of Opinion: Amid Suits Over Mold, Experts Wear Two Hats Authors of Science Paper Often Cited by Defense Also Help in Litigation By DAVID ARMSTRONG January 9, 2007; Page A1 (let me know if you would like me to send this to you) This WSJ article explores the evidence that many defense attorneys in mold cases cite the ACOEM and CDC in their opinions on the dangers of mold when their so-called experts are people who have been paid to have those views or because they have those views, leaving practically no one to back those exposed to mold with any sense of validity. There are many of us who have been exposed to molds and our lives have been forever changed. This is why I am sending you my personal story - I am not a frivolous person given to flights of fancy and maudlin displays of imagined maladies. There is a report by physicians at the University of Connecticut called: Guidance for Clinicians on the Recognition and Management of Health Effects related to Mold Exposure and Moisture which does support people who have been made ill by exposure to toxic mold. .. It is a 120 page report so I can't mail it unless you request it, of course! Here is how you can access it online: http://www.oehc.uchc.edu/clinser/MOLD%20GUIDE.pdfIndoors ConContact me, Stensrud, if you know of any scientific, universtiy based or other creditable agency, based in Washington or not, that could be of help. Thanks
