Guest guest
Hi, I have several different brands of air purifiers. Some I can't find new filters for. Is there a website that only sells different and off brand filters for arir purifiers? I have searched the net but came up with nothing. I thought that maybe some of you would know. Thanks, jackie
Guest guest
I can find the individual replacement filters, well all but one. What I would like is to find an company or website that sells individual filters of different brands. I would like to be able to purchase them all from the same place, at the same time if possible. > > What I meant was you can do a search w/in ebay to narrow down your name brand, just like /google. > > [] Air filters > > Hi, > I have several different brands of air purifiers. Guest guest
Sally, Thanks so much for the trusted site. We keep learning. I haven't read it yet. A mold specialist here told me ionizers are a bad idea, b/c they can pull toxins from within the walls & we will breath them in. If a model has one, make sure you have the option to turn it off. Kathy From: sally braithwaite-marshalll <mustangsally2254@...> Subject: [] Air Filters Hi, All...I can only speak for myself, but I swear by having good air purifiers. I bought mine after a great deal of research. Some of the most helpful information came from www.achooallergy.com, a site that had a good list of comparisons and consumer reviews, which I gain more from than any expert's recommendation. Guest guest
I'm not a scientist, but I've been warned away from the ionizing air purifiers and cleaners, as they are considered to be more harmful than helpful to folks like us with MCS, immune disorders, and toxic exposures of various kinds. There are times I just give myself permission not to understand the " why " of a recommendation and instead just decide to trust the source, in this case the doctor who has literally been a Godsend to me and who is usually very balanced and hesitant about mandating one treatment over another. She didn't vary on this one--she warned me and said NOT to use them.  I believed her and avoided them when I shopped. Sally ________________________________ From: listspub <listspub@...> Sent: Sat, August 21, 2010 12:18:35 PM Subject: [] Re: Air Filters  Kathy.. would that be from mold spores behind the wall still growing? Im getting that the electostatic component to the bule air which causes ionization will make the spores sticky this stick to the filter, but im wondering whats happeneing to the spores that dont stick to the filter. Guest guest
Robin, It could be mold spores, asbestos, insulation or what ever is beyond the wall. Years ago before my mold exposure, wee used an air cleaner w an ionizer for weeks & it made me hoarse. Now I know why. So make sure it has a button to turn that option off. Guest guest
Thats fine you believe her sally and Im glad her advice has served you well. I would still like to know the science. I know ozone has been warned against repeatedly. Never heard of neg ions. Ionic foot baths create negative ions and some people use those for mold detox... there experience is it is helpful. I cant say and would love to know the science behind that as well. Thank you, Robin > > I'm not a scientist, but I've been warned away from the ionizing air purifiers > and cleaners, as they are considered to be more harmful than helpful to folks > like us with MCS, immune disorders, and toxic exposures of various kinds. There > are times I just give myself permission not to understand the " why " of a > recommendation and instead just decide to trust the source, in this case the > doctor who has literally been a Godsend to me and who is usually very balanced > and hesitant about mandating one treatment over another. She didn't vary on > this one--she warned me and said NOT to use them.  I believed her and avoided > them when I shopped. Sally > > > >
Guest guest
Oh.. ok.. very alarming.. I'll stick with one with carbon and keep it simple. We will be locating to a place that will be offgassing VOCs and that currently concerns me more than mold will there. Thank you.. Guest guest
When I first got mCS I was extremely sensitive. I reacted to potassium pergamate (sp) in my filter. The company said they should have known better & gave me coconut shell carbon alone... So that's what the hypersentive use. I bought the Aller Aire - a great intake design & 35 lbs of charcoal. I used it to eliminate the VOC's from cheap plastic air purifiers. > > > > Robin, > > > > It could be mold spores, asbestos, insulation or what ever is beyond the wall.
