Let me tell you a > little bit about myself and the situation our home may be in. I wanted to say Thanks to everyone who replied. The messages you all sent were very helpful. I wanted to update you on what has happened. After the first few messages, I took as much out of our kitchen as I could. And I stopped trying to clean up streaks I saw on the walls and in the cabinets. After a few days of gathering as much information as possible, I sat down and talked with my husband. He must have been doing research in his spare time, because he was very understanding with what I had to say. Our next step is getting an air quality test and lift tests done. I'm also wondering if tests can be done to check the air ducts. I logged onto the www.iaqa.com site and got a list of names to call. Unfortunately, I don't know exactly what to look for when looking for someone to do the test. I understand the remediation has to do with cleanup. But I don't know what title I should look for for testing. I could also use some help forming a list of questions to ask. I would appreciate any help you could give me. Also, what is the average cost for the tests? I know it differs depending on where you live. I just don't want to pay $2000 for something that should cost $500. The other question... This is more out of curiousity than anything else. When is a house considered a total loss? Before anyone asks, yes we are still in the house. That will change as soon as the tests are done (or maybe before). Thanks in advance. W reneewo@...
