You can't see the culprit, but mold may be growing in some of the dry goods sitting on your kitchen shelf. Pancake batter The latest warning circulating is about expired pancake mix triggering severe allergic reactions in people with allergies or asthma. No particular brand is to blame. Experts say dry goods like pancake, biscuit or cake mixes can grow mold because they're stored in boxes and exposed to moisture. News 4 Health Team Reporter Manzo interviewed Dr Stauder about this topic. He says that St. Louis is one of the top cities in the country when it comes to near-fatal asthma attacks.
