Guest guest
All, I found this while researching. Interesting I thought. Laypersons can not apply. I hope that they have the toxins that we breath as some of their environmental triggers. Darlene Link: http://www.asthmaawards.info/index.html The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications until February 16, 2007, for the third year of the National Environmental Leadership Award in Asthma Management. EPA initiated the award to recognize health plans and health care providers for their leadership in addressing management of environmental triggers as part of their comprehensive asthma management programs. For many people with asthma, a poor environment where they live, work, or go to school can trigger asthma attacks and seriously affect their quality of life. EPA is committed to increasing public awareness and action to manage environmental asthma triggers so that people with asthma can improve their quality of life and reduce the number and severity of asthma episodes, emergency room visits and hospitalizations, and missed school and work days. The National Institutes of Health's (NIH's) Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma highlight the importance of managing environmental factors that contribute to the severity of asthma, and many health plans and providers include environmental management in their asthma care programs. But much more needs to be done. We invite you to join us in demonstrating that managing environmental triggers as part of a comprehensive asthma management program can improve the lives of the more than 20 million people in America with asthma. WHO CAN APPLY? The National Environmental Leadership Award in Asthma Management is open to all health plans and health care providers with comprehensive asthma management programs that are consistent with the NIH Guidelines. Companies providing disease management services are not eligible to apply. Preference will be given to health plans and providers that serve disproportionally-impacted or underserved populations and/or that have strong community partnerships.
