Guest guest
Gail and all, I think we all get frustrated because we cannot eat what we like at times. When I start thinking that way I try to remember Dr. Bernsteins remark about walking by the bakery and smelling all the wonderful bread and feeling deprived because he couldn't have any. Then he thought, I am thankful to be here to smell the bread. I am THANKFUL to be diagnosed before I had any complications. I lost my mother and one sister to this monster that we call diabetes. I don't want to be the next. That does tend to keep my desires in line. Good luck! Spillman
Guest guest
, I agree with you but since I've become a type 2 I don't have to walk by the bakery to smell it anymore.. I can now detect it from about 3 blocks... Same with certain fast food palaces... Guest guest
, I'm with you. When there's a food available that I wish I could have, I think of all the years without diabetes that I had to enjoy 'em before the diabetes monster became part of my life. Things to be thankful for: I didn't get it as a kid! Also, now since I'm on insulin I find I can have some things I haven't had since diagnosis. Yesterday I had a small portion of macaroni and cheese. Yum! Vicki
