I use an Accu-Chek Advantage (given by the VA). Each month is a mystery

for them. I might get the blue box (whole blood) or the pink box (plasma).

They are suppose to begin issuing everyone the comfort curve strips. I

just like the comfort curve ones myself.

I learned that the old strips are being discontinued (might already have

happened) BUT the old ones were NOT being recalled. In other words, the

stores can use what they have in stock. Only the Comfort Curve is going to

be made.

Well, that answers my question. The only drawback at the VA is that you

know that you are receiving medical treatments by way of the lowest bidder.

While sometimes its frustrating, overall I haven't had a reason to second

guess or doubt their decisions. One nice thing is that the VA formed a

Diabetes Team with a RNP, CDE, RD all with knowledge of the patient. They

take care of all necessary appointments like Podiatry, Eye and lab work.
