Guest guest
It has been a while since I have posted. I was diagnosed with SBS two years ago this month. With each passing season I get sicker. No shocker there, many of you experience the same thing. Compared to some, I am actually very lucky. I left the sick building in July 2005 but the illness hasn't left me. I worked there for seven years. I am usually sick every single month (for a week or two) with the usual; sinus, loss of voice, headache, fatigue etc. Sometimes I'm fortunate enough to skip a month here and there. Springtime is hell and Fall is a very close second. This is the third March in a row that I have been just blasted with a super dose of illness. This mega-illness lays me out. When I have the syptoms I take medications; antibiotics, steroids, allergy medicine, inhalers, cough medicine with codeine, yadda, yadda, yadda. Sometimes they provide relief; most times they do not. My doctor told me this week that he wants me to take a leave from work and stay in my house for the next three months with the AC on. Then we will see how I am doing. I am in Nebraska. Can I just tell you that I'm freaking out about this??? I am 35 with a husband, four kids, three cats, one dog and a mortgage. I also have a career that requires me to travel. My husband nearly had a stroke when I told him what the doc said. Bless his heart (the husband that is) he truly believes that I have allergies just like everybody else. He doesn't understand and cannot figure out why I can't just get well. He is convinced that it's all in my head. Have any of you tried this? Staying a prisoner in your own home? Did you EVER go outside? Did you wear a mask? DID STAYING IN HELP???? How do I stop living? Is this an extreme measure to take? A little freaked out,
