Had a very interesting experience today.

DH and I went out to lunch, to a pretty good place we go pretty often. They

have great pies, and I have been very good and not had more than one bite

since dx.

Today, DH ordered Chocolate Mousse Pie, and I just couldn't resist. He also

ordered Coconut Meringue, but that didn't matter. I had a bite of

chocolate, and went nuts. I had another bite, and slid the plate over closer

to me. I told him to just eat the coconut, I would finish the chocolate.

BAD IDEA!! I guess I've been off sugar too long (or just long enough).

About the fifth bite, I suddenly felt as though I'd been injected with

adrenaline! I stopped eating, and said " I don't feel very well. " DH looked

at me, and his mouth fell open (pieless, thank goodness). He immediately

remarked that I was very flushed. I also felt lightheaded, and like I would

jump out of my skin any minute. I broke into a sweat, and could barely sit

still. A couple of minutes into this, I decided I would go to the bathroom.

I haven't staggered like that since I quit drinking!

I did finally come down ( I guess that's accurate), and we went on with the

day, but it was sure scary.

I've learned my lesson about sudden sugar overloads.

Of course, 5 hours later I was in the grocery store chewing on one of the

managers. I wanted some candy, and the container (bulk) said " sugar free " .

I asked what it was sweetened with. He insisted that they were just Gummi

Bears, and all Gummi Bears are equal. I reminded him that the label said

sugar free, and insisted that he find out what they were sweetened with and

post it, and call me when he found out.

I guess I was at the other end of the glucose range by then ;-), DH was so

embarrassed that he walked away!

Just another day on the rollercoaster, when I thought I was through with the

ride.
