Hi , Can't tell from your post, where you have the infection, but

when I had a MRSA infection on/in the skin, my dermatologist said

Bactrim was drug of choice and Bactroban Ointment topically. Bactroban

Oint. is used (in the nose) of carriers (symptom free, usually

healthcare workers). I recently heard of a new drug for treatment of

MRSA, but I am not familiar with it. Hope this helps & hope you

recover quickly!

My infection is in the sinus area. According to Shoemaker, biotoxin

illness which I have and chronic sinus infections are indicative of

MRSA and so that is why I'm trying to get some info on its treatment.

Thanks,

I also had the MRSA and was given the bactroban (nasally) and two

other antibiotics (Cipro and Rifampin - orally) for 30 days for its

treatment. Since that didn't get rid of it all, I had a second round

of nasal abx, which was something specially compounded. I was also

on two other oral abx at that same time for a staph infection as the

result of a spider bite. I will say that I felt worse than I had for

a couple years while taking that first round of abx, but that was

likely because I also had Lyme and the Rifampin could well have been

killing off some of the co-infections (e.g., Bartonella).

I do find it interesting that Shoemaker told you there's a

correlation between the MRSA and sinus infections, as I was told the

opposite. I also have chronic sinus infections and those rounds of

abx didn't really impact that at all. As has been discussed on this

list in the past, I find the nasal irrigation (with neti) to be

effective at minimizing my sinus problems.

Peace and Healing,

B

odd this should be in my mold group. My fiance and I both had mrsa on

skin and then I had it colonize my nose. It is an awful thing that

reoccured many times. We to used bactroban in nose finally to

irridicate it. My cousin is a fire captin down in fresno he said they

all had it and they had internal disease specialist come to personally

iliminate it from fire fighters, he told me to use tea tree oil soap.

I have found true love it is amazing stuff and is great to use on

face. we have never had mrsa again since started using tea tree oil

soap. u can buy it from puritanspride online and it is rather

inexpensive for like 6 dollars you get like 9 bars of soap. anyways

good luck make sure you realize how contagious this stuff is practice

good hand washing and cover your wound if on skin. for some reason in

out town they keep telling everyone that it is a spiderbite and not

contagious which is totally absurd. I have personally seen they way it

spreads it is awful. It seems some people are better hosts and usually

carriers wont have as bad of symptoms.
