Hospital manager, Dr Joaquín Martínez, confirmed the news after a report in yesterday's El Mundo revealed the death on the 26th February of a baby born two months prematurely weighing 1.9kg who died of septic shock after contracting the virus. It has since been confirmed that two other babies have since died, and Dr Martínez explained that strict measures have been taken to try and prevent any further deaths, although a fourth baby is reported to be extremely poorly: no more premature babies will be born at the hospital for the time being, and restrictions have been placed on visits by specialists from other departments and family. The twenty-five isolated babies have been split into two groups in an attempt to further isolate those babies thought to be infected.
