Mold at DJ Antos' Farrell office is declared an emergency

Mercer County commissioners on Friday declared the mold problem that

closed the Farrell office of District Judge Ron Antos an emergency,

enabling the county to avoid having to seek bids for work to clear

up the infestation.

Antos' office was closed until further notice on Monday. The court

staff is accepting payments and fines at District Judge E.

McMahon's office, 1217 Hall Ave., Sharon.

The emergency declaration should cut at least three weeks off the

repair time, according to county Public Information Officer Jeff

Greenburg.

Work on the court building at 425 Idaho St. is expected to include:

replacing the roof; sanitizing the building, including the air

ducts, to ensure all the mold is gone; replacing the carpet; and

possibly one interior wall. There are no estimates yet for how much

the work may cost.
