This tone used by Ron and others here needs to be gone for

> they are in the very same boat...all the best...cherie

Sorry never been in this boat that you are referring to, I keep my meds out

of reach of others and don't broadcast to those around me as to what I'm

taking.

This tone you speak of is just the the way it is, you lose or misplace these

types of meds and ask for more your an addict as far as the docs are

concerned. Come on really, who loses or gets ripped off 3 times like that

and then goes to different doctors for replacement meds?

I understand what you are trying to say here, I just don't see the need to

sugar coat it. She really does need to worry about what she has done even if

all of what she says is true. I'm not trying to say I'm a better person

either. I have to get my meds from the county hospital and see what goes on

all the time there. Its not a pretty sight, I go there every 3-4 months and

see them call the police/security on people on almost every visit. I usually

have to go without my meds for about 30 days between visits unless I stretch

them out because they always short me a refill between appointments.

I am sorry to hear that Rod..I live in Canada and I do not have those problems.

I am given my meds for 30 days and usually given them a few days earlier. I am

sorry for this woman an dher suffering and I know you never meant to be

harsh..it is not sugar-coating..she may be looking for a kind word but if she is

cheating the fact is she is only cheating and hurting herself..cherie

I agree , I haven't logged on for awhile , but now , I see a huge lack

of compassion , and a meanness here , that makes it hard if not

impossible for any real person to feel safe and able to post . What

happened here ?

Cherie,

A personal " Thank You " note to you and the others sharing

compassion...

Your words mean so much to me - brings to me the true meaning of our

(and I say ours) Hugs-N-Pain- because we are all in this together,

not to make others feel bad, but instead to give hugs (Big Hugs) and

understanding to all who visit. We all have our stories to tell, in

confindence and not to be judged. That is why I came here.

I have been able to work out some of the stress caused by others and

decided to continue with my support system here. It seems that most

are really sincere and can relate to a variety of situations caused

by pain mangement. I do take heed of others advice and warnings and

that is another important aspect that as " pain living people " we do

endure from many angles...

To Ron, phrases like " my dog ate my homework " can be taken as

sarcastic and judgmental - my question is what makes you different?

Why are you excluded from crime, theft and deceit and left feeling

helpless due to circumstances beyond your control. If you can answer

that, I will be glad to follow you, becuase this is not a game, this

is not a joke, this is not a place to spew lies -- this is a place to

tell your story (believe it or not)....

I just spoke with a good friend who has been living in pain for many

years, and like me was resistant to medication - now she is so happy

she doesn't have to scare her kids because she can't walk, she can do

her chores and her job without being completely overwhelmed with

pain. She, like me at first resisted med's, and I have told her that

even the strong can be suseptable to toleratance (not addiction) she

is doing much better and happier than has been in 10 years.

Please understand that no one wishes to become tolerant to pain med's

but when they need them to regain some sort of quality of life, let

us not discount the fact that in the future she may be enduring some

of the concerns we share here today.

That's all for now (enough right..?)

  • 2 weeks later...

I have had some trouble with doctors and meds in the past couple years

since I started taking pain meds. I am sure glad I live in a rural

area where doctors and us all know one another. As for losing meds,

I've dropped them down the dishwasher, dumped them down the sink trying

to get those d%$#@! childproof lids off. I've even left them in my

cloths so the wife could wash them. We are talking about pain tablets

here not plutonium 238 or some such thing. Every one is suspect as

well as suspicious simply because of the times we live in. I get more

upset over the cost, but yes, I do get resentful when I feel

uncomfortable refilling my own prescription. I wonder if the doctors,

nurses or pharmacists give it a thought while sipping that tall cool 3d

dirty martini at happy hour?
