Guest guest
Rod I am also super careful where I put my meds so nobody can see them or get to them only me when I need them but that does not make us better..perhaps this person does have a problem but we need to be gentle..this group is called " Hugs & Pain " not " Darts & pain...cherie Subject: Re: acceptance.. To: Hugs-N-Pain Date: Tuesday, December 9, 2008, 10:35 PM This tone used by Ron and others here needs to be gone for > they are in the very same boat...all the best...cherie Sorry never been in this boat that you are referring to, I keep my meds out of reach of others and don't broadcast to those around me as to what I'm taking. This tone you speak of is just the the way it is, you lose or misplace these types of meds and ask for more your an addict as far as the docs are concerned. Come on really, who loses or gets ripped off 3 times like that and then goes to different doctors for replacement meds? Rod
Guest guest
Lemme try one more time. I was not being disrespectful at all...or throwing darts. When the pharmacy lost a whole jug of narcs that were mine the burden of proof landed on me that I did not pick them up as they claimed. Another script was filled so that there was two narcs in one week as far as their books went....this is baaaaaaaad. I could have let it slide and hoped it would pass off into the night...if I did that and they found this later down the road it could hurt my credibility with doctors down the road. So....I wrote a letter to the insurance company, to the doctors office and to the pharmacy at Walmart itself hoping they would investigate. I'm in pain for life and I have to walk very very carefully. I have a good relationship with my doctor and they were just sorry I had the problem with the pharmacy and I was ok with them. It may well have gone against me. All I could do was my best and most honest action. What you needed was a police report of your theft and to talk to the prescribing physician. In each case where there was theft a police report could have helped your cause. I don't know if you did that. None of this is darts and an attempt to make anyone feel bad...a question was asked and I gave the best answer I could. I hope you can make it work for you. Guest guest
Thanks for making me feel better guys. Things do happen and I am to say the least " pretty naive " mainly becuase I really don't think I am doing anything wrong. My husband thinks my " friend " who steels from me does it because she thinks I am stupid. This is just another one of those situations that I deal with. I try to be careful, but will try much much harder, I just don't have a very good sense of what is bad in the world. I am very trusting and now I realize stupid. I have only been to outside dr's 3 times in 3 years so does anyone know if that is enough to get reported or something? I am planning to have my surgery done after Christmas and then be done with this whole mess - in the meantime - just wanting to know if I should expect to go to jail. I worry enough for everyone on this website and then some! Thanks again guys!!! Guest guest
Hi Cary, I don't post that often on here but I do read the new posts every day. I'm sorry that you feel like you didn't receive the understanding and compassion that you were looking for in here. I sincerely don't think (I hope) that it was anyone's intention to make you feel like you had done anything wrong or stupid. But as with any large group of people, there are those that tell things straight up, without mincing words and there are those that are more gentle with their responses. Neither is better than the other, just different. As far as your going to other docs for pain meds, as long as you didn't go to them around the same time, it probably won't be considered " doctor shopping " . Which isn't something punishable by law but will make it harder for you to receive any kind of pain management because your chart will be flagged as a drug seeker. So I think you can put your mind at ease about the whole going to jail thing. :-) I would like to give you a bit of advice though, as a former nursing tech and current pain management patient. From now on, please, be very careful of what you do with your meds. I know that you're a trusting person but unfortunately you can't be when you have narcotic pain meds. If you carry them in your purse, guard your purse as if you had a million bucks inside. When you're at home, put them in a well hidden lock box (especially if your friend is around). If your meds are ever stolen or come up missing, file a police report so that your butt is covered. It totally sucks that on top of living with pain every day of our lives, we have to be so guarded when it comes to our meds, but that's the unfortunate reality of the world we live in today. Wishing you a happy and pain free holiday, Tobey aka groovecitymami Thanks for making me feel better guys.
