Guest guest
Hi all. I recently posted a question with regards to a sick building in Australia. My client has undergone another barrage of testing fortunatly from a doctor who has expressed a concern between the state of her health and the state of the building. Our swabs of infected area are not yet showing signs of fungal growth and look unlikey to do so. We are at the stage now of assessing the airconditioning systems, air quality as well as the carpet that is continually wet and damp whenever it rains. Not so easy to do as we are dealing with a massive coporation who will not accept a private organisation coming in and testing nor are we able to fund the project ourselves. The evidence is all there I just need a co-hesive sequence to bring it all together. I have hunted down the relevant australian standards that are noted in the Queensland work place health and saftey act 1995 however would like to know if anyone has information regarding any other qld or australian standards that relate to the compliance of employers with regards to performance requirements for assessing that a mechanical air-handling system is in fact controlling the accumulation of harmful contamination by micro-organisms, pathogens and toxins. Remember in my case we are looking at a leaking air conditioning system as well as a wet, damp ceiling and carpeting whenever it rains. Not to mention the fact that our offending pathogens are probably invisible unless we start opening up walls. Two huge cans of worms here and one if not both could be contributing to the wide range of health symptoms being presented. Our next procedural step is to lodge a complaint with work place health and safety who will then investigate depending on their assesment of the the severity of the complaint. We get one good shot at this so I need to be well prepared and well armed when putting in the complaint to ensure the investigator finds something!! Any help and direction appreciated.
