Guest guest
Here's my two cents worth... Think on this one a while. I am a paramedic with an Associates Degree in Paramedicine (soon to be licensed). I am also a licensed barber. I went through 1500 clock hours of training to learn how to cut & style hair. My EMT class was 126 hrs; and my paramedic class took 556 hours ( TDH min. is 400 hrs.) for me to learn how to save a life. Shouldn't persons saving lives have more training than haircutters? I know many medics, some of whom are licensed and some are not. Of the ones that I know, some of each group are GOOD medics and a few of each group are NOT SO GOOD medics. I don't think a degree says that a person can put down a ETT better that the next medic, It only says that that they have more education. If you want more money for the work you perform, you have to have more education. This is true for all professional positions. Isn't this what we are trying to do state-wide, bring EMS up to the level of professionalism that we deserve. Being professional EMS Technicians at whatever level you choose ECA, EMT, EMT-I, EMT-P or Licensed Paramedic is a whole lot better than being a " amlance driver " .
