Guest guest
Hi , I agree regarding being seen. Also, have you called your MD at TCI to report it? They might be best to advise you regarding who to see and what to do next. Fill us in on the outcome. Much luck! Randee **************Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Guest guest
If you have signs of infection go to your local emergency to get it checked out. That is nothing to mess around with. Hi folks,I had Tethered Cord surgery on April 28th and I seemed to be doing okay up until a few weeks ago? My incision seems to have an infection? EIther that or the worse case scenerio is that the spine has an infection in the are of the lower lumbar where the surgery was performed?Apparently my Tethered cord was really bad. WHen they cut it free, the dang cord snapped about 2 inched upwards according to Doctor Milorhat at TCI. Because of that the Chiari I have should be much better than it was since the Tethered Cord was pulling it downwards so tightly.Anyway, did anyone else have any of these issues with infection of the incision or anything? SHould I be worried? I just didn't want to travel all the way to NY again. I live in land and the expense was bad enough.Like I said this is probably a dumb question and I most likely already know the answer on what I need to do. lolBlessings, _________________________________________________________________ If you like crossword puzzles, then you'll love Flexicon, a game which combines four overlapping crossword puzzles into one! http://g.msn.ca/ca55/

Guest guest
Good sign that you don't have a fever but for peace of mind if it were me I'd still go to emerg and get it checked out. When I was discharge they gave me the instructions to seek medical attention if there was any sign of infection -- redness, swelling, discharge, pain or fever. Good luck! Guest guest
Hi Randee, I tried to talk to someone today at TCI but only could leave a msg so we are on our way to the ER just to get it looked at. The hospital that we are going to also has a spine center too. They just weren't experienced in the Chiari or Tethered Cord issue I have so we wanted to see the best at TCI. Hopefully though the Spine Center here in MD can at least check the incision for infection? I will let ya'll know the outcome. Guest guest
Hi guys, I thought I would post to let ya'll who answered my question about my incision issue to know what happend. I did go to the ER and spent a total of 9 hours there. Yes, it was a long night. In fact my husband and I just got home and here it is after 2:00am. THey did a CAT with contrast and I do have some sort of fluid build up. So they did a culture of the junk that was leaking out of the incision but won't know until tomorrow what that turns up but in the mean time....... They put me on Keflex antibiotics immediately and want me to put hot paks in order to draw the fluid out when we got home and then I am to see the Spine Center first thing in the morning. So, basically, they really had no idea what Tethered Cord really is let alone Chiari or the EDS (connective Tissue) problem I also have so they didn't know the best way to deal with it? I know that before we see the SPine Center here in MD, I am calling TCI to make them aware of everything so that they can personally discuss it with the Surgeons here before anything is done. THanks to all who were concerned and kicked me into reality to have it checked asap and not to let it go on any further. I will keep you posted. Guest guest
Whew. Good girl, ! Believe me, I am great friend of denial so I totally " get it " when you considered " riding it out. " They may not know about tethered cord, but they surely know all about infection. Wishing you a fast recovery!! Randee **************Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Guest guest
If its any help now I had the same thing happen to me. My fulid junk was white blood cells spinal fulid and some other junk. They drained it twice before putting on a pressure bandage for one day after that it stoped. when they tested it they called it chemical menengitis and said it was a common problem after some cord releases if your body fights where they usually cut the bone. Antibiotics and some steriods a week later I was fine and still doing great. Hope all works out. This message was sent from an iphone and may not display correctly.
